I have two that I need to adopt. I’m still trying to decide on names for this beautiful pet. These are some names I have for BOYS Tadashi -loyal faithful Makoto – sincere Yoshi – lucky Mitsuo – shining hero GIRLS Akemi -bright, beautiful Miyuki – beautiful blessing Naomi – honest beautiful Saki – blossom of hope Satomi – beautiful and wise Katsumi – victorious beauty Manami – loving beautiful Takara – treasure Tomomi – beautiful friend Do you have any name suggestions?

Hi @bonesbongo! Congrats on your two new tanukis! I like the name that you picked that means ‘treasure’ because our webkinz truly are a treasure. I also like ‘Aiko’ (little loved one). ‘Temasine’, & ‘Tomo’ each mean “twin” since the one will look just like the other. ‘Toshi’ means “mirror image”. “Taro’ means first-born male, and ‘Tanjini’ means high-valued second son. ‘Hana’ means bud, or blossom, and ‘Sakura’ means “cherry blossom”. I’m sure there are many more lovely, fitting Japanese names. Hopefully you will find just the right one to suit your tanukis!

Hi, @Beckinz8 Thanks for the great name suggestions, I know I can always count on you. I still haven’t decided which two names to go with, so many beautiful names. I going to wait a few more days and then I will make a decision. Right now the names Saki, Satomi Takara and Tomomi seem to stand out. I really like Saki meaning blossom of hope with all that has went on in the world with Covid, everything has got to get better. ;} ~ shelkinz67

I hadn’t believed that the tanuki really existed so I looked it up. Now I want to see one in person. It looks like an amazingly bizarre combo of a North American raccoon and a fox. I can’t find any U.S. zoos that have them so I will eventually need to convince my family to go to Asia. I’m sure there will be a few other things for us to see there besides the tanuki. :-D

Tanuki are so cool! Did you know in Japanese mythology, there’s a creature called the bake-danuki (transforming tanuki)? They’re comical shapeshifters who like to prank people with their disguises, but they rarely mean harm.

This is unrelated but I have a question concerning Signature Pets- I just adopted one since they were on sale in estore & was shocked and very disappointed to find that instead of an item from the “Signature Theme” I received the Harmonious Hammock from the Family Score Prize Pool????!!!!!! Seriously? Needless to say, disappointed. Just wondering if it’s a mistake and if not, why would this item be in the prize pool for a signature pet, which cost quite a bit more than a regular pet?!

    • KarenaJ says:

Also wondering if the wallpapers and flooring that come with Endangered Signature Pets are unique to each pet or is it the same for each pet? I only recently got into Signature pets, so forgive my not knowing. Tried to look it up but can’t find it.

    • Sally Webkinz says:

Signature Endangered pets have a different prize pool compared to regular Signature pets. They get a Signature Exclusive item and a set of wallpaper and flooring, in addition to their regular adoption gifts. The Harmonious Hammock is not the Family Score prize — it is the Signature Exclusive item

      • KarenaJ says:

I see, Sally, thank you so much for answering. I was confusing the Harmonious Hammock with the Palm Tree Bunkbed!! I am now encouraged that Endangered theme prizes have been made available in other places, such as the Oasis and of course, the Harmonious Hammock, of which I have more than one of, although this was my first Endangered pet adoption.

I adopted my Tanuki already. He’s just so cute. I call him Tank. He’s going to love exploring caves and making himself a new backyard to relax in his Bamboo Bliss Lounger.
