Alex’s Fight

Wow, you guys. Today is one for the record books. I, Alex Tiger, actually had a fight with someone. Normally I don’t like arguing, so I’ll just go along with what someone else wants. But after my insane shopping trip with April yesterday? I had to stand my ground when she wanted to return to the mall AGAIN today.

No. I just could not do it.

So I told her that if she wanted to hang out, we’d have to do something I wanted to do. Like visit the museum or walk through the Magic Forest or SOMETHING. I was even up for going shopping, if it meant we could go to the Curio Shop.
And you know what April said? She said I was being selfish. ME! She said that I live in Kinzville and could go anywhere at any time, so I should do what she wanted when she was visiting.
I tried explaining that friendship means doing what BOTH parties want, not just one. April wouldn’t hear anything of it, though. She whipped out her phone and started texting someone. I asked her what she was writing and who she was writing to. She said she was texting her best friend and telling her how ridiculous I was acting.

ME? Acting ridiculous?
Also, wasn’t I her best friend?

Not anymore, obviously.
April said she was giving me one more chance: come to the mall with her, or forget about seeing her again. I told her I couldn’t stand going to the mall for one more minute.
She stomped out of my house and slammed the door.
I would like to say that I was sad to see her go, but I wasn’t. I’m just sad that the old April seems to be gone for good.

I like monkeys, but the playful kind. I can see why Alex is ready to move on if April can’t compromise. He already suggested a compromise. Yesterday, he did everything she wanted; today, he suggested turnabout fair play. It sometimes hurts a bit at first but in the long run it’s also ok. People go in different directions.

I think these stories are great. One of you might be having the same problems and reading about it might help you understand and deal with it easier. jennifer

@zeph317, I agree. April has been totally self-centered & unreasonable so far. I like that Alex spoke up to her. She’s being a dreadful guest.

I don’t think Alex has anything to apologize for. He spent all day yesterday doing what April wanted, while she refused to do a thing he suggested. Today was going to be a repeat of yesterday. It was going to be the mall or nothing. Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself or you lose who you are as a person. I think Alex stood up for himself and I say good for him!

Alex, i think your mistake was in not asking April why she wanted to go to the mall again today. Maybe she forgot to get a birthday card or present for someone and would not of been there all day like yesterday. April was wrong to assume you’d want to spend two days at the mall. You both need to apologize to each other. jennifer
