What you need:
- Shoe box
- Yellow construction paper
- Red construction paper
- White construction paper
- Black construction paper
- Coins for stenciling circles – quarter, nickel, dime, penny
- Tin foil
- 4 Large black buttons
- glue
- Pencil
- Black and white crayons
What you do:
1. Cover shoebox and lid with yellow construction paper.
2. Cut out square ‘windows’ from tin foil and glue in a straight line down side of box, just under the bottom of the lid.
3. Cut two larger rectangular ‘windshields’ and stick to front and back of box. On one side of the bus near the front, draw a rectangle around one of the windows with black crayon to make your door.
4. With black crayon, write ‘SCHOOL BUS’ down each side of the ‘bus’.
5. Using the quarter as a stencil, cut out two black circles.
6. Using the nickel, cut out two white circles. Glue the two white circles into the middle of the two black circles. These will be your headlights.
7. Using the penny, cut out two smaller black circles. Using the dime, cut out two red circles. Glue the two red circles into the middle of the two black circles. These will be your taillights.
8. Stick the two black and white circles to the front of the bus at the bottom corners. Stick the two red and white circles to the back of the bus at the bottom corners.
9. Cut an octagon out of red construction paper. Write ‘STOP’ on the octagon in white crayon. Stick your stop sign to the side of the bus, just behind the door.
10. Glue two large buttons at the front and back of one side of the box and do the same on the other side to make your wheels.
11. With a pencil, poke about ten to twelve holes in the lid of the box. These are your pencil holders.
12. You can keep some pencils inside your box and poke the colors you will be using through the holes in the top to keep them handy.

Now THAT is cool!
Cute! And it will help keep my desk organized and help me find my pencils, but I think I will look for a smaller box than a shoe box …
