Wow!!! We had almost 900 entries in our 2017 Pet Design Contest! You guys did an amazing job and made it very, very difficult for us to narrow it down to just ten finalists. Every submission was excellent and we think they would all make great Webkinz pets! But we had to narrow it down to just ten.

Now we want your input. While the final decision rests with the judges at Webkinz, we will take your comments into consideration when making our final choice which will be announced on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2017.

When looking at all of the creative, wonderfully executed submissions, we tried to choose finalists that had a unique twist. Sometimes it was a clever idea – like making a dragon out of dragon fruit, or a butterfly’s wings out of Webkinz Magic Ws, a turtle out of a rose, or putting monarch butterfly wings onto a dragon. Sometimes it was a unique new animal we hadn’t seen before – like a Hippocampi or an Orchid Mantis. And sometimes it was just a neat pet that we think our members would love – like a chocolate bunny, a Loch Ness monster, an axolotl, or a Jade Fu dog.

Nine of the following ten pet designers – and our honourable mention – will each receive a 1 Month Deluxe Membership. The winner will receive a virtual version of their winning entry, a brand new Pet Design Trophy plus a 1 Year Deluxe Membership.

Well I’m sad my lobster didn’t make the finalists but The ones that did are all fantastic so I don’t feel too bad. I really like the orchid mantis and the rose turtle, oh and the axolotl and the fu dog, oh, and the dragon fruit and monarch dragon, oh and…I guess I just like them all!!!!
I saw your lobster on the share center. It was soo cute! I’m sad it didn’t make it too. I would love to have a lobster in Webkinz World. I also loved the woolly bear caterpillar, cuttlefish, rose snail, spider, yeti and extrvagANT ant. I don’t remember who made those but they were great! There were so many great ones.
Hippocampi, Orchid Mantis, and axolotl are definitely my favorite of these. Best of luck to all who were chosen, and congrats on making it to the finals.

You could put out a hatch a pet, you wouldn’t know what you had until it hatched. I like them all but I love the Hippocampi and the Orchid Mantis.
The eggs could have baby birds, dragons, snakes, turtles, dinos ect. anything that comes from an egg. Surprise you don’t know what until you hatch it.

I’m so glad I made it to the finalists! Even if I don’t win, those other Webkinz are amazing and I wouldn’t be sad to lose to them.

Congrats, taydarsauce and Pokekinz! Your submissions are creative and wonderfully inspiring!! I love the fantastical approach so many people took for this contest. To me, the hands-down best are the Hippocampi and the Monarch Dragon. They are all so creative, but I feel like these two are truly the most wonderful designs. The Orchid Mantis and the Jade Fu Dog most definitely deserve their spots, too. All are so good, but these, Ganz, I think offer the most unique and amazing new look at Webkinz World pets.

The Orchid Mantis is awesome! It is unique and a nice departure from the usual pet designs. It would be a great addition to the line of Webkinz pets.
I agree with you, but I also like the Monarch Dragon , the Orchid Mantis and the Red Rose Turtle, I would be happy to add any of them to my family. I also think all the artists did a wonderful job. I’m glad I don’t have the almost impossible job of picking the winner. Kudos to all the Artists!!!!!!!

I love it! Did you base it off the ones in the Percy Jackson series?
None in particular, no. But I did hear about hippocampi from the Percy Jackson series. :) I haven’t seen any of the movies except the first one, though. I just read the books.
I like the books a lot better, because the movies really deviated from the book’s storyline which cut out some really cool scenes. The series was where I was first introduced to them, so I wondered. Good luck I hope you win!:)
Yeah, I definitely liked the books better. It was weird to see Annabeth portrayed as a brunette… She’s supposed to be blonde. :/ Plus, Grover (in the movie) didn’t seem to know much about Greek mythology, all things considered. Why would he try to pay with American dollar bills instead of golden drachma– shouldn’t he know? :P I don’t think I actually watched the whole movie… But it was a while ago. Thanks! ^ᴗ^

I can’t tell you guys how happy I was to see the words “Sometimes it was a unique new animal we hadn’t seen before – like a Hippocampi or an Orchid Mantis.” I almost thought maybe someone else had entered one! XD I’m so glad you guys thought it was good enough. (｡>w･･･ I guess I just think you guys should know that I dun goofed, hahah. Anyhoo, congratulations to all of the finalists! Great job you guys! :D
Oops! Something went wrong there… Er, I somehow sorta cut cut off, and then it started again in a different place..? That’s weird. Well, I just said I messed up the name: “Hippocampi” is the plural of “Hippocamp” or “Hippocampus”, and that I must’ve mixed it up somehow when I was deciding what to name it. I like Hippocamp the best, I think, because “hippocampus” is apparently a part of the human brain, and a species of seahorse (I think). There’s also “Hippokampoi”; I might like that better, but I’m not sure…

My Pixie Kitty didn’t make it? That really upsets me. I understand, though. She’s not so unique but she’s a totally magical different kind of cat! I designed her with my love for cats. :)
