Wow!!! We had almost 900 entries in our 2017 Pet Design Contest! You guys did an amazing job and made it very, very difficult for us to narrow it down to just ten finalists. Every submission was excellent and we think they would all make great Webkinz pets! But we had to narrow it down to just ten.

Now we want your input. While the final decision rests with the judges at Webkinz, we will take your comments into consideration when making our final choice which will be announced on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2017.

When looking at all of the creative, wonderfully executed submissions, we tried to choose finalists that had a unique twist. Sometimes it was a clever idea – like making a dragon out of dragon fruit, or a butterfly’s wings out of Webkinz Magic Ws, a turtle out of a rose, or putting monarch butterfly wings onto a dragon. Sometimes it was a unique new animal we hadn’t seen before – like a Hippocampi or an Orchid Mantis. And sometimes it was just a neat pet that we think our members would love – like a chocolate bunny, a Loch Ness monster, an axolotl, or a Jade Fu dog.

Nine of the following ten pet designers – and our honourable mention – will each receive a 1 Month Deluxe Membership. The winner will receive a virtual version of their winning entry, a brand new Pet Design Trophy plus a 1 Year Deluxe Membership.

I reallylike the Mantis and the rose turtle. I am a little disappointed that more hand drawn pets were not finalist. Some people don’t have access to computer drawing programs. I cannot use the computer for drawing anymore because I have tendinitis in my wrist and it doesn’t hurt as much to draw by hand.

I’ve always preferred hand drawing pets over computer drawing them as well. Hand drawn pets don’t look as clean and precise but that’s kind of a cool thing, in my opinion. Not to say I don’t like the finalists, but it would have been cool to see more hand-drawn pets.
AGREED!!! The hand drawings is mostly what was presented but the majority of the finalists were computer made renderings. I hope that doesn’t affect future winners.

Special shout out to bullseyejingles444 – i followed each and every entry you submitted, and while I thought your Soft Coated Wheaten was off the charts fantastic, your chocolate bunny and his chubby cheeks is so special! These are each so incredibly wonderful. I especially love the Red Rose Turtle and Orchid Mantis too. GREAT job everyone <3

It’s funny you say you can’t figure out how to design a Farm Fresh Egg pet, but then pick a turtle as another finalist, and advertise the spotty turtle set in another post. Because between the turtles and the googles, you do have the basic shapes for it right there. Reshape a turtle shell body just a little, or well, kinda decapitate a google design and shape the body up a bit more, and voila, farm fresh egg. (Also, we need more googles…um, with heads. And a yellow or green fladoodle, pleeeeease. And a chocolate dragon. And more mice.)
You know, I really like the farm fresh egg and I’m sorry the Webkinz team can’t find a way to make it a webkinz but honestly I don’t think it would be any harder than making a google pet. It’s just upright (like the snowman) with no arms (like the google and many of the fish). It could still wear hats and glass… and shoes lol. Hopefully they will get it figured out and maybe bring it out as an easter pet some time!
I would definitely buy it! I laugh just thinking about it running around hahaha!
