Before our 3D artists create an item to be used in Webkinz World, a concept artist will make a sketch to be used as a reference image. Here are 5 concept artist sketches that inspired some of your favorite Christmas themed items:
This delicious looking gingerbread house was one of last year’s Countdown to Christmas prizes. The concept artist’s sketch and the actual item are almost identical:
The Santakinz Toy Train was last year’s final gift for the Countdown to Christmas. The log cabin that’s featured in the concept artist’s sketch was a nice touch, but was not included in the final item:
The Town Square Music stand is currently availble in the WShop. As you can see, it was decided that a music book should be added to the stand after the original concept was created:
The concept art for the Festive Winter Sapling (also available in the WShop this year) is almost identical to the final item:
The peppermint candies overflowing from the Gingerbread Cabin Building Kit were a nice touch added by the concept artist:
Wow! These are wonderful! It would be fun to see more of the art and the graphic art to go with them. The beautiful graphic art is one of the reasons I love Webkinz!! Very cool sharing this with us. If we send in some of our art, can it be turned into 3D art? Like a contest, those ideas that get selected get theirs created in 3D and the item in their doc? Just a thought. I’d love to draw am idea for you all.
I hope Ganz shares more sketches with us, those were amazing!
Nice pics!! I’m really liking the one for the train set.
Cool! I’d try it but I know it wouldn’t turn out anything like it. I’m a really bad drawer. But thanks for sharing this Ganz!
oh wooooowwie! I’m showing my family right now!
They are beautiful, I’ve always wondered how the concept for such items came from. I always figured a board room meeting, then a computer model. I’m glad artists are used!

Oh my gosh so so so cool! I’m a totally amazed by that drawing.
Wow I wish I could draw that good!
Wow! That is really neat and interesting. Shows what talented people work for/with Ganz and the amount of thought and work that goes into the items available on Webkinz. Thanks to all for making Webkinz so awesome and for sharing this.
