Here’s a really fun and easy game to play with a group of campers! Here’s what you do:
Everyone sits in a circle. One person (‘It’) leaves the room for a moment. To get the game started, one person in the circle becomes the rhythm maker and starts a rhythm by clapping their hands, stamping their feet, or tapping their hands on their knees (or any combination of those things). Everyone else has to copy that person. When everyone is doing the action, It is called back in. It sits in the center of the circle. Now here comes the tricky part; It has to figure out the identity of the rhythm maker. The rhythm maker must change up the pattern now and then, but it’s important to do it while It isn’t looking in their direction. Everyone else has to follow the new pattern by keeping an eye on the rhythm maker. If It thinks they know the rhythm maker’s identity, they can call out a name. If they’re right, that person is the new It. If they’re wrong, they have to keep guessing. After five guesses, let It know who the rhythm maker was and choose a new It!
This sound a ton like a game I played in preschool. It was called Doggie Doggie Where’s Your Bone? We all sat in a circle and someone had to walk out of the room and then someone in the room hid a little Clifford the Big Red Dog toy somewhere. Then once they hid it they called out Dooggie, Doggie, where’s your bone? Then the person walked in and they tried to find it. Everyone in the classroom had to tell him/her if she/he was getting warmer or colder. Once the person found it, I think, although I’m not sure, that they had to try guessing who hid it. It was really fun!

That is similar to a game called “alibi’. I Love “alibi”. Everyone sits in a circle and sends the ‘detective’ outside. Then somebody has to be the criminal. When they decide that the detective comes back in. Going in a circle, three times, everybody has to give their alibi on what happened when the crime happened. It can be simple like, “I was eating cookies.” The criminal gives their alibi too. However, while everybody uses the same alibi everytime, the criminal has to change theirs a bit. The first time they might say, ‘I was eating cookies,’ the second time, “I was eating brownies,” and the third time “I was eating cake.” The detective can guess throughout th game, but when it has finished going around three times they get three guesses to figure out who the criminal. It can be challenging, but really fun!
