Sparking a new Webkinz Baby in Webkinz Next is one of the most exciting ways to grow your family! Each baby you Spark is completely unique, with traits inherited from its parents—and a look all its own.
You can Spark your baby in the Adoption Center. This is where the magic happens! When you select two adult pets to Spark, their traits combine to create a brand-new baby.
Each Webkinz Baby comes with a special mix of features, including body color, eye color, and pet patch. Traits can range from common to super rare, but every single baby is absolutely adorable!
Once you Spark your baby, you’ll receive a crib to place in your home.
As your baby grows, it will make growth requests—you’ll see these appear at the bottom of your screen. Complete 15 growth requests to give your pet the option to grow from a baby into a kid, and eventually into an adult.
When your baby reaches adulthood, it will earn three Sparks of its own! That means you can continue to Spark more babies and discover even more fun and creative trait combinations.

@dorothylou Do you know if they will ever “open” the eyes of the 20 Year Puppy? Meaning, will they ever be able to have any other eyes than the puppy itself? I love sparking and would love to see what these cuties look like with other eyeys. Thanks!
No, the Twenty Year Tiger will not inherit any other eyes than the ones it already has.
I loved sparkling my baby, I want to do more but I don’t have any diamonds how much is diamonds if u get a pet if u pick the bigger bundle?
Sparking is always 80 Diamonds. Virtual pets are generally 120 Diamonds, though the Legendary Dragon is 150 and some special edition pets may be more. You can see what Diamond packages are available by tapping on the Diamond icon.
Thanks for the enthusiastic article! When I saw that the one parent pet was named “Sweet Tart”, I thought, I bet Dorothy Lou wrote this article. I checked the top of the article and smiled. That new chihuahua/dragon baby is otherworldly! The combo of traits make it look like an entirely new species. Thanks for taking the time to hype sparking!
Sparking is so fun! I do wonder however if the random factor would ever be replaced with some sort of character creation option in the future for a little more control over how your pet looks. I’m a free Next player, so it takes me months to build up enough diamonds to spark a baby and it can be pretty frustrating if it doesn’t have the traits I was hoping or I get a redemption pet. It’s still exciting as it is, just some suggestions for future possibilities :D
I agree. I am not a fan of pets that look like they came from a gumball machine. I prefer sparked pets that inherit traits like horns and wings instead of color and patterns.
This is pure speculation and observation, because I haven’t sparked a baby yet, so I also don’t know how much this affects the random traits and whatever. But for whatever it’s worth, the lefthand pedestal parent influences the baby more physically than the righthand pedestal parent. So if I breed my future dragon with one of my vampire kittens, and I want a more dragon influence in the line, my dragon needs to be where the chihuahua is here. I am roughly two seasons’ worth of free and paid diamonds short of getting my dragon and sparking two babies to test this theory, using the same parents, but swapping them for the second baby. Apologies if this is really obvious to everyone else.
While you are correct that the pet on the left determines the species, it does not matter how you organize your pets when you spark. No matter what order you put your pets in, there’s a 50-50 chance for the species type and whichever one is selected will display on the left in the baby showcase.
