What are Pet Medallions?

Pet Medallions are a new form of currency in Webkinz World. Each Medallion is pet-specific. When you collect enough of a particular Pet Medallion, you can trade them in to adopt that virtual pet – for FREE! There are also special ‘AnyPet’ Medallions, which act like a wild card and can be used toward any pet.

How do you get Pet Medallions?

You can earn Pet Medallions a couple of ways. Look for the red gift box icon in the Arcade to see which games offer Medallions and when you play one of those games, you have a chance of winning a prize which might be a Medallion! You can win up to 10 prizes per day in the Arcade. And you can earn one ‘AnyPet’ Medallion by trading 10 Pet Medallions of any one pet. Look for more ways to earn Pet Medallions in the future!

Where can you find your Pet Medallions?

Pet Medallions don’t appear in your Dock but it’s easy to see how many you’ve collected. Just open your ‘My Pets’ window and you’ll find a new tab called ‘Medallions’. Medallion pets appear here, along with a meter showing how many Medallions you have collected toward each pet, as well as the total number of Medallions required for each. You can click on each pet for information about its PSI and PSF.

How do you adopt a pet using Medallions?

When you’ve earned enough Medallions to adopt a pet, the meter beneath that pet will change to an ‘Adopt’ button. Just click the button and you will be taken to the Adoption Center and complete the adoption process as you would for any Webkinz pet.

Pet Medallions!

Are Pets adopted using Medallions the same as regular Webkinz Pets?

Just like any Webkinz pet, a Medallion pet comes with its own Pet-Specific Item and Pet-Specific Food, and it behaves like any other pet in Webkinz World. It makes Pet Requests and has Happiness, Hunger, and Energy meters that need to be filled to help increase your Family Score. The only difference is that pets purchased using Medallions do not extend your Full Membership.

I’ve been a member since almost the very beginning. We have received two free pets, Hopping Bunny and Decade Dragon, and that was fantastic. But this isn’t a great idea. The chance of winning medallions from games is low and the odds of ever getting enough of the same one to choose the pet we want is extremely high and will get worse when the other new pets are added. A lot of us will never be able I will be able to get a free pet this way.

I’ve also been a member for a long time. I’ve gotten 5 for the monkey, and some for a couple of others. I would like some for the rainbow Google and dragon fly, I have a feeling you have to play the hard games I can only play a few :(

The low odds and the time it would take to actually get enough medallions for a free pet don’t seem to be worth it.

  4. Marius8853 says:

My grade school grandchildren will have grandchildren by the time I get enough medallions for a pet. Not worth it. Sorry, Ganz.

  5. sciencesplat says:

finally got a box today – had 150 kc in it.

My kids have been playing for hours and not even one prize. It’s very discouraging. I don’t think this is worth it. Reading the comments I feel a lot of people are frustrated about this. It’s a great idea but too hard for kids to achieve. So sorry…

“Let us know what you think!” Okay, then. I think that this sounded like such a great promotion, but having done a bit of calculating, I think that it’s going to take me at least 20 years to get enough medallions for even one pet. It’ too bad, there are half a dozen pets in this pool that I’d love to have, but my time is worth more than this. I don’t intend to be negative here, just realize that this is only going to really work for a small minority of players. 250 medallions is an unreachable goal for me, just as the higher prizes in Family Score will take the rest o9f my life to earn. no point in getting mad about it tho.

    • TheWebkinzWarrior says:

Agreed. If I spent the entire day playing the few games that offer medallions maybe I could get a few. But as much as I’d love to be on webkinz all day, I have schoolwork and housework to do. Whatever medallions I get are great but I’ve decided it’s not worth it to actually “try” to get them.

      • Yeny09 says:

I think you two basically summed up how all of kinzville feels lol in three days i got two medallions and that was after hours of being on webkinz

  8. rainyukl says:

What games do you need to play to get medallions for the dragon fly and rainbow google? I play atlantis and pet party the most and tiles there easier for me ?

  9. Michaela2007 says:

I think I read there is a limit of ten prizes per day and this held true for me yesterday. Out of 25 games I received ten prizes, three of which were medallions. Fifteen games I didn’t receive anything. Keep in mind you are playing at a “chance” for a prize, and you are receiving kinzcash for the games you play. Today I played nineteen games, received ten prizes so the other nine games I did not receive anything. Again I’m assuming I will not receive any more prizes today so no medallions but I’m not complaining. These pets are special and I don’t think it’s meant to be easy! This is where we learn patience and perseverance!

    • Yeny09 says:

I dont think they should be easy to get but some of us cant live on webkinz and some of us cant get past the first few levels of games so this makes it impossible for some patience and perseverance aside i really hope ganz can lower the medallion amount even just a bit or offer them in other ways because it just doesnt seem fair to many of us in three days i got two sigh

    • THEFLASH says:

i didn’t get anything i played and played lots of games but nothin

  10. obvsaprincess says:

I’ve been getting high scores and I don’t always even get a box. I’ve been playing the same game and keep getting higher and higher score, but only got a box (with only 20 kc in it :/) once! I wish it said explicitly what kind of score you have to get on each game to get a prize or a medallion!!

    • arose55 says:

I agree I wish there was a certain score to reach before you get prizes. I’ve been playing a lot of games with the red present Icon and haven’t even gotten any prizes yet. I got 2 pet medallions from floating pet medallions.

    • Yeny09 says:

      i agree its getting frustrating

    • pinkiecupcake says:

You don’t always get boxes. The system is not a a “score x number of points and get a box” it’s a “score x number of points for a chance to get a box”.
