Inukshuk’s Craft: Rain stick

What you need:

-          Cardboard paper towel roll

-          cardboard

-          Tape

-          Tin foil

-          Paint & Paintbrush

-          Beads

What you do:

On your cardboard, use the end of your paper towel roll to trace two circles then draw slightly larger circles around them. Cut out the larger circles, then make a series of straight cuts from the edge the outside of the larger circle to the edge of the smaller circle in the middle. Bend the tabs upward to form caps for the end of your paper towel roll. Affix one cap to one end of your paper towel roll with tape. Leave the other end open.

Cut two pieces of tin foil slightly wider and longer than the paper towel roll. Fold each to fit the width of the paper towel roll, then twist the two pieces of foil together, forming a spiral. Insert your foil spiral into the open end of your paper towel. Add beads and affix the other cap on the other end of your paper towel roll with tape.

Paint the outside of your paper towel roll and you are ready to make it rain!

We use rain sticks ALL THE TIME at my music class in school! They are really cool and fun to use! We also use other super cool, super fun instruments. A lot of them are even from different places around the world!
