Okay, I have a few questions. Firstly, will we still have access to everything that’s currently in the game? Secondly, when we log in to this new version of Webkinz; are we still going have access to/ be able to find all our pets in one place; like in the ‘My Pets’ tab, we have now? Thirdly, Why are you trying to make Webkinz available for the youngsters; isn’t that Webkins Jr.’s job? Wasn’t that why it was created in the first place; after all, you guys said that Webkinz Jr. was and remains the little sister of the original Webkinz World? Fourthly, so Lil’Kinz are no longer a thing? Haven’t you forgotten what Webkinz is all about, I don’t know if it still is but it used to be about collecting, or at least a good chunk of it was. Over the years, and through its many changes from just having the original, classic Webkinz World that we all know and love from the old days to that new Webkinz X which just, in my honest opinion, made more of a disaster than its share of bug fixes; and was pretty much doomed from the start to this completely new version of Webkinz. I can’t really say that I’m looking forward to this new version; since the update known as Webkinz X. Webkinz just hasn’t been the same. My only two requests would be to please do away with the eStore and Deluxe Membership, and to please bring back or at least find a way to bring back or duplicate the Mazin’ Hamster Mazes, Races and Worlds there once was.

I spent about an hour playing the new game on my IPad last night. I wanted to give it a chance and satisfy my curiousity. I have decided that I will not be playing the new game any more and will delete the app today. I’m not a fan of the 3D animation – it looks too childish and everything moved so slowly. Ms. Biscuits really creeped me out – too tall and human looking and the blank stare is weird. In comparison, even though Ms. Birdy is just 2D, she is so warm and inviting – when you visit her in her clubhouse room she always has something encouraging to say AND she gives you a present – the new game lacks this example of charm. The new game also seems to be a more “pay to play” concept. I played Smoothie Moves a couple times, but if I wanted to play it more I would have to buy the purple jewels – why would I do this when I can play this game for free on the Classic game. I really don’t know what to think about making babies . . . . . As much as I do not care for the new game, the real reason I don’t want to play it is the truth that I do not have enough time to play another game. I have spent so much time – YEARS -and effort and real life money on my 4 accounts that I have no desire at all to start from scratch on a new game. Plus, Old Webkinz has so many pleasant memories of playing online with my daughter when she was young, buying Plushies and the clothes as gifts and surprises – I have none of those warm fuzzies feelings connected with this new game. It’s all what made me come back after taking a four year break. I do wish this new game well – I hope others have fun playing it and I commend all the talented folks at Ganz who created it. It is just not for me.

I count this as the final blow to what made webkinz so popular. I’m a beta tester for this game. I have played it almost daily for a while now, so I’m very familiar with it. And I can safely say, it doesnt hold up. It DOES grow on you, as time went on i found myself likening it somewhat, I especially like the baby pets thing (although I’m a bit concerned because I cant see any way to turn them into plushies with the current format, which is a bit sad. Kids would love to be able to get their baby pets as plush). The thing that always made webkinz so special was its charm, its aesthetic. It had a certain welcoming feel to it. Something soft and homey. It stood out from other toy brands that were all loud and flashy! Webkinz was a soft, just like its main draw- the plushies. As time has gone on I’ve watched the original charm of webkinz slowly fade. Mazing hamsters, the tv shows, dr quack, all these classic soft things left. Replaced with louder harsher stuff such as deluxe membership. This is the final blow. This game reminds me of the toy brands I see on the shelves of walmart. The ones that parents wish would go away. The loud ones that try to drag me into an “adventure” instead of welcoming me into a gentle world like webkinz did. The logo, is a good example. If a different toy company designed it, I wouldn’t be surprised. It doesn’t stand out, it looks like every other kids brand logo. Not eye catching and unique like the old logo. Maybe I’m being nitpicky, but I really do want this brand to succeed. And who knows, maybe gen 2 of the plushies will surprise me and fulfill the webkinz charm we’ve been missing. But currently, I dont see webkinz surpassing, or even meeting, the same level of popularity as other brands. The charm is gone.

You’re spot on – although I’m not sure I agree about the Deluxe membership thing. The logo, the aesthetic looks just like every other half-baked kids game. I’m really dreading what’s gonna happen to my oldest favorite game.

Charm never dies, it just weakens.

    • 73kibarry says:

How do you make children in this game? It seems weird. I agree it’s more of a pay to play game. WE are all dealing with financial issues during the pandemic, would have been nice if the features were optional in classic. I don’t know.

While I wish nothing but the best for Ganz & their employees, I am not feeling happy with this announcement & that things in Webkinz(like the time machine that’s doesnt do anything anymore, you can’t even sit in it) won’t be fixed. Also, the name thing doesn’t make sense. Changing the original games’ name makes it seem MORE likely that it may be phased out. A name like Kinzworld or Kinzworld 3D for the new game would have been better. Sound Fresh, and would’ve generated more interest and made us long time players less worried, IMO. Either way thank you for all the fun over the years. ♥

They made another separate Webkinz game a while back, but that didn’t last very long. This may just be a part of Webkinz history repeating itself. No matter what, I’ll always continue to play the first original Webkinz game.

I tried it out and in my opinion I like the classic version better.

For the people who aren’t going to read the link that Webkinz posted along with this and want to know if the original Webkinz is still a thing: Original Webkinz is now Webkinz Classic! We love Webkinz Classic as much as you and we will be supporting the game with all of the new pets, new room themes, fun events and exciting prizes that you’ve loved all these years. With the Webkinz Classic Desktop App, PC and Mac players will be able to enjoy Webkinz Classic for years to come!

@Steve Ganz and @Sally Ganz I just want to say 2 things. First please continue to release updates for classic webkinz and DO NOT stop updating the classic webkinz. Second can you PLEASE make it so the codes for the Plush Pets for the New Webkinz have TWO codes inside the tag, One for Classic Webkinz and One For New Webkinz so that way then people will be able to BUY Plush Pets For BOTH New Webkinz AND Classic Webkinz! :D

    • NorwegianCoffeeKat says:

The plush pets aren’t manufactured anymore to my knowledge. They discontinued production last year.

      • megamom12 says:

That’s true, however, they did mention that they are planning a new line of plush. I’m wondering if the new plush will be for the new game or the old one or both. You can earn ‘diamonds’ to adopt new pets with Miss Biscuit…so cute….I have ten at the moment. It seems like in the new version ‘diamonds’ are like E-Store points. All I know is that I need a Marshmallow Ghost so that I can make my Bat Potion!! I’m hoping that collecting candies in the new version is like the Classic one and you can collect every 6 hours. Of course the new version is a bit glitchy, but ‘growing pains’ are to be expected. Hoping that the game that I need to play for one of the ‘challenges’ will load right when I try again later.

NO! I put a balloon in my room and it says I am almost out of memory. It took forever to find my house when my pet asked me to put the tall mug in my house. I like being able to walk around town but I wish we could do this on Webkinz Classic. I will not invest in this new version. I will continue to be the biggest fan of the classic.

  9. FoxesRule612 says:

So because this new Webkinz will figuratively be “replacing” Classic Webkinz does that mean TVs and house invitation won’t ever get fixed? =(

  10. poofmon says:

Unfortunately this new Webkinz its not compatible with my current phone, but I I look forward to trying it out when I’m able.

I was having a dilly of a time trying to load it directly from the Play Store, however when I clicked on the icon on the second page of this report, my computer loaded it onto my phone for me! I was so excited!
