In the summer of 2010 we launched the Mazin’ Hamsters line of plush and section within Webkinz World. Since then, players have enjoyed building and exploring mazes, participating in daily activities and winning prizes. Mazin’ Hamsters can also be dressed, fed and played with like any other Webkinz pet.
Recently more and more players have been unable to access Mazin’ Hamsters. The Mazin’ Hamster section requires the use of the Unity Web Player. Unfortunately this plug-in is no longer supported by browsers such as Chrome, Firefox and Safari, blocking access. As a result we regret to inform you that we will be closing the Mazin’ Hamsters section of Webkinz World on September 9th, 2015.
On August 19th, we will remove the Mazin’ Hamsters button from the Things to Do menu, but players will still be able to access the section through the building on the Map of Kinzville. On September 9th, it will be closed for good and will no longer be accessible.
Mazin’ Hamster owners will continue to be able to play with their hamsters in their pet’s room and clubhouse.
If you have points to spend in Mazin’ Hamsters, we recommend that you get all of your prizes before the section closes, as you will not have access to those points after it is closed.
Finally, if you haven’t done so already, any Mazin’ Hamster code can be registered in Amazing World, whether or not it was used in Webkinz World.

Mazin’ Hamsters has now been removed from Webkinz World. Remember that entering a MAZIN’ Hamster Feature Code at the Code Shop will still add the hamster to your Webkinz World account. You can play with hamsters in your pet’s room just like any other Webkinz pet! You can also play with your hamster in Amazing World, a 3D game from the creators of Webkinz! I wish mazin’ hamsters could be released as a little side game or something like you did with putting amazing world on steam… Why couldn’t you put mazin hamsters with amazing world?? Mazin’ hamsters was the best part of webkinz… RIP all the trophies I’ll never get.
If Hamsters are going to continue to be sold then they SHOULD extend an account…otherwise, what is the purpose????

I have a feeling Ganz aren’t just closing it cause of Unity Web Player, because for one it still works on Microsoft Edge ( what I use ) and Internet Explorer , for two they could have very well just kept it on things it still works on or made an app etc., and for three they’re keeping AW up and it runs with Unity which is “not available” so why just either retire both or retire neither!? I have more a feeling that it was due to sales declining, in which case, yes that’s prolly true that it was, but they could’ve just not made new features, discontinued the plushies manufacturing, but keep the sight up for those like me who have been playing since 2010 ( and earlier! ) and the only thing they did was Mazin Hamsters for hours and keep it up for a nostalgia! It’s bad enough they remolded Webkinz completely, now they’re removing every nostalgic element? If they’re trying to appeal to new generations, Webkinz was at its peak in 2009-2010 and basically won’t get any more popular then it was, so why not just keep the original stuff for the players who have been playing since the release instead of asking for new players that will never come by changing it completely while old players leave because Mazin Hamsters doesn’t even work!? And since Ganz will prolly never read and take this into consideration, how can I contact them!?
Also we’ve pretty much learned that after something is retired it becomes instantly sought-after *cough*CheekyDogCheekyCatLovePuppy*cough*
You can send your concerns to webkinzsupport@ganz.com. 90% of our players use Chrome, so it having some functionality in Edge and Internet Explorer isn’t going to help the majority of our users — especially since neither of those are available to Mac users.
ganz, please stop getting rid of all the games that wont work. webkinz friends, nakamas, and everything. please make an app or something to play mazin hamsters. and bring back webkinz friends, and nakamas.

Couldn’t there be an app to play mazin hamsters? Or another way? It really was significant to the Webkinz game, and by far more advanced. And true, doesn’t amazing world use unity? So really it’s confusing.
I’m kind of chuckling at this, because my original Amazing World account ran on Unity, and I’m confused at how Mazin’ Hamsters was shut down because of this, and not both. Otherwise, I still need to put on my Mazin’ Hamster! :I
aw :( ive really missed it since you guys closed it. i’ve experienced the issues of mazin’ hamsters, but can you please try to fix it? webkinz is lacking without it. i remember when it was opened and i would go on and play everyday. (ive been a member since march 24th 2008)
