What you need:
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups old Cheddar cheese, grated
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- an adult assistant
What you do:
Preheat oven to 400°. Grease a baking sheet.
Add all ingredients EXCEPT water to a large bowl. Slowly mix in water, a little at a time until the mixture sticks together to form a dough. Roll out dough on a floured surface to about ¼” thickness. Cut into strips about ¼” thick and then cut into 4” lengths. Place on baking sheet and bake for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
heh heh. i think they meant to put “COLD” cheese… to keep it from becoming a gummy mess b4 you get to bake it. =] (the cold keeps the oils from separating from the cheese & gopping up your recipe).
Mmm, gotta love cheese! Near me we have a market that sells organic everything and has GREAT cheese. I could probably get some there to make this! For those who don’t know, “old” cheese is cheese that has been aged to have a stronger taste. It’s not moldy or anything. That’s why it can be really expensive, because it takes years for it to age.
sounds yummy ! but old cheese really
Cheese is good when it is on pizza or something, but I don’t like TOO much cheese, even though those look good! >>cathouse2
Mmmm! This recipe looks pretty tasty! I <3 cheese! ❀ Megan ❀
