Sneak Peek: Kiwi Bird Medallion Event!

From April 1 – 30, look for Kiwi Bird Pet Medallions floating across your Webkinz Classic account and click on them to add them to your collection (limited to 4 a day, 5 for Deluxe players).

You’ll need 100 Kiwi Bird Pet Medallions to adopt this pet, so be sure to play every day for the chance to get as many medallions as you can!

To make it a little easier, you’ll get 25 Kiwi Medallions on Webkinz Day, April 29. You’ll find them in your Webkinz Day Gift Box.

Click on the MY PETS paw print button near your pet’s portrait (bottom left side of your screen) and click on the MEDALLIONS tab to view your collection. When you have collected 100 Kiwi Bird Pet Medallions, you’ll be able to adopt the Kiwi Bird.

You can also trade 10 Kiwi Bird Pet Medallions for an AnyPet Medallion. Watch Podkinz 156 to learn how!

The kiwi is really cute, it’s one of my favorite types of birds! I still haven’t gotten one yet.

Stop with the Kiwis! Please put more effort into putting new activities and prizes into Classic!

Hey uh, you know there’s only so much they can really add to Classic anymore because of its fragility. Plus not everybody has a Kiwi. And if you don’t want a Kiwi, you can always trade its medallions in for another pet.

      • starbrite1 says:

What fragility? Genuinely curious, please explain

        • FoxesRule612 says:

Webkinz’ code structure is fragile. One mess up could break something else, and this could spiral into breaking more important parts of the game. Webkinz uses something called Action Script 2 which is a very old and sadly dead coding language. There are literally millions of lines of codes the people at Ganz would have to go through, just to fix certain glitches. Because of this you can’t invite people over anymore and a lot of other things are still broken. Once they moved Webkinz from Flash to the desktop app, this has made adding new content other than items and pets too risky. This is why we won’t be seeing any new games or features added to Classic.

I understand now, thank you for explaining! Very sad though… I love webkinz classic so much <3

it’s an old platform, google it.

        • SteampunkUnicorn says:

Smth to do with the outdated programming I think and they can’t rlly change much bc they might not be able to fix it, but idk all the details :)

        • Phvntom says:

They have to essentially create a backdoor for new content to interact with old content as Classic was made so long ago.

@FoxesRule612 – Thank you for the info about the Action Script 2. I do understand why there are so many things on Webkinz Classic that can not ever be fixed. If they can’t fix items, or add too many new items, why can’t they improve Classic by just changing things like lowering the KinzCash prices of items in the WShop, stop making room themes that are full of items that you can only get with ePoints, and let us sell/send/trade ALL items that we buy with KinzCash, ePoints, and from the eStore! We use real money to by virtual items and then we can’t sell/send/trade them? That doesn’t make sense! We pay real money for virtual pets (with or without a plushy), in order to keep our accounts open. I think that most of us want to continue to play Webkinz Classic. I know for me, if Classic Webkinz goes down and can’t be fixed, I won’t be playing on Webkinz Next. I just don’t like it. I really enjoy playing on Webkinz Classic, even with all the problems it has.

Things as small as permanently changing to some items, making certain items tradeable would also likely be risky. :( That’s probably why you never see them update old items anymore, and why they don’t go back and make old Estore items tradeable. Ganz does earn a surprising amount of money through Estore points alone and for the items and room themes, not only the pets. While all of these are fantastic ideas, unfortunately they’re a bit too idealistic at this rate. I’m just happy Webkinz Classic isn’t a thing of the past.

    Kutie Kiwi :)

  7. EmeraldSwan_591 says:

Although the Kiwi bird is cute I wish we could win another pet. Yes we can trade the kiwi medallions for 10 any pet medallions but you need way more to adopt a pet.

  8. alucard says:

Could we have a different pet for Medallion Pet Event, instead of the Kiwi? I love my little Kiwi’s, but would love to earn a different pet. Maybe one of the pets that costs a lot of medallions? Maybe the Gargowl or the Diamond Dragonfly? I know I can use my extra medallions on other pets. I just think the 10 medallions for one medallion is a bit unfair, especially since the pets don’t count toward the Webkinz membership. Just a suggestion.

    Im building a kiwi army

This is at least the 5th year in a row for the Kiwi Medallions. Since we recently had a pet design contest, one of the finalists would have been perfect for a new medallion pet.
