Oooooo… Ahhhhhh… I thought I found the cutest baby and then I scrolled down to the next otter pup, and then the next one and so on. I really love the dark one with the gray eyebrows. But then I saw that it comes in purple too! PURPLE!?! SQUEE!!!! *turns cartwheels around the room* How could I ever pick just one?!? They are all so adorable!

Trying to see the pet patches… all I can tell for sure is that the last super rare one seems to have a snail. I can’t wait for a “Trait Talk” with Sally Webkinz!

My problem with next is that in my opinion, some changes, softening if you will, needs to be done. I’ve numerous pets in Classic, for example, and at worst, if you don’t get them all up at once, their hunger score will go down by half and that’s about it. Not that bad. However, in Next, it is by far and away to harsh and too punishing. I have a number of pets in Next and I found out rather quickly that unless you get each and every pet up that day you end up being harshly punished for not doing so. For example if you have 3 pets and you only get one pet up, I guarantee that when you head back to your room from doing your daily stuff in Next, you will find that the other two pets you didn’t get? Well, as opposed to Classic, their hunger is score is at 0, completely empty and to bring the score back up, you have to feed them so much food, it’s crazy. I very quickly discovered that I have to get ALL of my pets up, every day, that if I didn’t I ended up spending enormous amounts of cash to bring up their health score from zero. And at some point, when you have numerous pets, from buying and/or sparking them, the notion of getting them all up becomes absolutely ludicrous and not viable so hence, Ganz, you really need to soften it, especially if you want us to continue to buy and/or spark pets because frankly, and I’ve been playing for 14 years, I’ve not incentive to do so.

I’m up to over 100 pets now and I mostly play on my kid pets to help age them up. While most of my unused pets have 0 for their pet care heart meters, their hunger/happiness/energy don’t seem to change unless I make them active. Their regular HHE meters shouldn’t be dropping while you’re not playing them — only their pet care heart.

I agree with Sally Webkinz on this. I have played both Next and Classic and as long as I am not equipped with that pet and I do not put them to sleep, their hunger/happiness/energy does not seem to go down at all. This has worked on Next even at times when I have not interacted with a certain pet for weeks. (Yes, I think it’s really sad not to put my pets to sleep, but it doesn’t affect their hunger meter like putting your pet to sleep does and not putting them to sleep apparently doesn’t affect the energy meter).

But when it comes to the Next heart meter, I just wish that the additional 20 points that you get when it comes to getting your pet to the max heart points each day is a bonus that isn’t limited to 10 pets per day. It really doesn’t provide an incentive to purchase/spark more pets or interact with more pets per day. When an announcement was released, it didn’t seem like there was a pet limit for the 20 point bonus per pet when getting it to full hearts each day, but apparently there is.

          • webkinzwizard02 says:

It’s not limited. It says 10 in the heart on the upper left side of the screen but if you fill more hearts, it counts. Each pet after the first 10 still give you 5 pts per request and 20 when you fill their hearts. Hope this helps!

I have found, sadly, Ms Sally, that unless I get all of my pets up on any given day, when I go back to them that same play session, the pets I did not get up all have their hunger score at absolute zero and boy howdy do you go through the food to get that up from zero. Classic does not do this and even more sadly, I am unashamedly OCD, I simply cannot ignore it. The hunger score should not be going to absolute zero if you don’t get them up :(

I’d suggest you take some video and screenshots and send to webkinzsupport@ganz.com because this isn’t my experience at all. In fact, I go pet hopping to find one with less hunger so I can do the Season tasks that involve feeding and I struggle to find hungry pets.

@davids1lilpixie I have found the same results as @Sally. If I am not able to play with each pet each day, and that is impossible for me with almost 50 pets, I leave them totally alone and inactive. If their 3 meters drop they will eventually restore themselves if they are left alone long enough. Then you just have to restore their heart level. I had one grumpy little dog that no matter what I did with/for him I could not get his happiness meter up above 10. Finally I just put him to bed and left him alone for about 10 days. When I finally woke him up and played with him all levels were at/or close to 100 and it was fairly easy to fill his heart. Listen to Sally’s advice, she knows her stuff! Good luck and have fun!

Putting your pets to bed, whether you’re actively playing with that pet or not, makes their hunger meter go the whole way down. That’s the reason I never put mine in bed unless I’ve been playing with that pet for a long period of time and its eyes look tired. Then I have to feed it 2 lasgagnas to get its hunger meter full once it’s out of bed. I just let my pets sit on the furniture unless it asks to exercise.

Love the otter. Need one or two. I prefer the natural brown color. So excited to purchase.

    • Dorothy839 says:

@maryannwood58 I totally agree. The natural brown one is my favourite as well, but I do have to admit that the black/grey one stole a piece of my heart. Unfortunately I never get the traits/colours that are promoted. ie Christmas traits and or colours, Velentine traits and or colours or St. Patrick’s Day colours or patches. I have even tried to copy the sparked babies shown in the showcase in the Adoption Center without success. No worries though, I love my nest full of common natural looking pets. If I want them to look special I can always dress them in creative fashions!
