Hi everyone, Steve Webkinz here. In today’s special report, I’m going to take a look at the latest updates for Pet Medallions!
If you don’t know anything about our new Pet Medallion system for adopting pets, you’ll want to first read our introduction to Pet Medallions here.
While we’ve been slowly rolling out sets of pets to collect with medallions, the most recent ones are intended to be the last for the near future. This means there are a total of 24 different pets that you can adopt with Pet Medallions.
Not only do different pets require different amounts of medallions to adopt them, but the chance of getting each medallion has different rarities as well. Here’s a look at each pet’s medallion value and rarity:
Out of the 24 pets, 2 of them (the Rainbow Googles and the Diamond Dragonfly) are exclusive to the Pet Medallion system, which means that it’s the only way that you can adopt them!
There is also an “Any Pet” Pet Medallion that can be collected and used towards any of the 24 pets. When you get one, it is automatically added to the Any Pet Medallion counter on your Pet Medallions screen. You can then add it to a specific pet by selecting that pet in the Medallions tab and then clicking the Any Pet Medallions transfer button in the top left (orange) area of your screen.
If you’ve collected 10 medallions for a pet, you can also trade them for 1 Any Pet Medallion. Just select that pet and then click on the exchange button on the bottom left (blue) area of your screen.
There are now many more ways to collect Pet Medallions than there were when we first launched this feature.
Arcade games marked with a red gift box can award prizes for a “Great Play” (i.e., a specific score threshold). One of the prizes included in those drops are Pet Medallions. All games in the Webkinz mobile app Arcade can award a prize drop.
The “Great Play” score is different for each game. We can’t tell you what those scores are because there is only a chance that you’ll get a prize drop if you hit it, however we have recently increased the odds of getting a prize drop when getting a “Great Score”.
We’ve also added Pet Medallions to the Daily Delivery, so there’s a chance you’ll win one each day that you log into your Webkinz account.
We’ve also added a floating Pet Medallion that you can click on and collect 1 additional medallion per day.
Deluxe Members will now find a Deluxe Pet Medallion Gift Box among their monthly prizes. Inside is a random assortment of rare, uncommon and common Pet Medallions, including a chance at getting an Any Pet Medallion!
We also plan on offering more Pet Medallions as part of other prize pools and special offers in the near future. Keep watching Webkinz Newz for the latest updates!

It’s nice being able to see which ones are rare/common! I currently have the most towards the Blossom Fish, which is great, since it’s a pet I would love to add to my family! :)

Just want to say to the people who have been complaining–this is not supposed to be an instant gratification thing, it’s a commitment thing. Yes it will take a long time, but some things do. I am glad no more pets are being added to dilute our chances, and the daily medallion is nice. MY biggest complaint is that after waiting so long, it won’t get me a free membership at the end! Umm, maybe a free month of deluxe? Do you still get the other perks of getting a new pet, like gift boxes? Remember, it’s only virtual and it’s supposed to be about having FUN!
Answering your question about getting the other perks of a new pet: Yes! You most certainly do get the gift boxes–anything that they come with, except for the one year account extension.
I’m saving up for a Rainbow Googles. I estimate I’ll have the 200 medallions I need sometime in the year 2028. I can’t wait!

Please could you put a Pet Medallion box in the Events section of Contests so we can log in to Webkinz News each day and click to receive a random medallion for our collection in the same way we get free food. Does anyone else think that’s a good idea?

There is actually a floaty-clicky! I haven’t seen it every day, but sometimes it is on Webkinz World. Also, I think that a random medallion off of Webkinz News is a great idea.
Webkinz Newz should have a floating medallion or a “click here to get a free medallion” on the Contests section. Even if it’s just one day a month or during holidays.
My pet collection is coming along slowly, as expected. I’m sure within a year or so, I’ll have at least one of these pets, which is fine with me! I didnt expect you guys to make it super easy. I just think of it like Wish Tokens. (Although I have to admit I was kinda mad when you made those new exclusive items worth 30 tokens… that’s kinda ridiculous for the flowers especially. But, what can ya do?) The pets I’m hoping for are the Stone Lion, maybe the Signature Aussie, Tigerlily Pup, and the Gargowl. =] What about you guys?
I actually won a Stone Lion a few years ago from a Newz contest. I named him J Thorpe and he usually walks around with a top hat and monocle. I am now realizing how rare he is: He deserves to be distinguished! : )

I have 10 in a lot of the pets but still only getting 6 medallions
I want the 2 cats and maybe the dragon! I have about 150 medallions. I only have 10 and 12 for the cats so far. The other 130 will give me 13 medallions for my kitties. That will leave maybe 1,750 more to go for the calico cat. This will be a long one. It would have been nice if we could have traded the medallions we didn’t want. That would be a lot of trading!! Great report Steve Webkinz thank you. I have 92 Pet Medallions so far. I would like you to report / update us on the future of Family Score . Many of us have completed it and received all the prizes and still keep our hearts filled in hopes that someday new prizes will be added. I’d really like to know the future of that part of the game as I really don’t want to waste my time filling hearts if there are never going to be any more prizes added to the prize pool for Family score. Thanks for all you do at Webkinz.

My grandma has 2 and 1/2 mill and counting
I have over 4 million Family score. I have 138 pets and it did not take very long to get the 1 million. Been waiting ever since to see what would come next. Nothing! Also before when you had at least 10 pets with hearts filled you got extra $$ in certain activities. Now the only extra cash you get is The Kinz Post Sorter job. What happened, why the change?
I will stop doing pet care when I reach 1,000,000 for each of my accounts. I’m almost there for 3 of them.
Sorry, lfrank, but I kinda have to agree with Ganz on this one. There are many players that do not have large accounts, or that are relatively new to Webkinz. So, for them, they need to feel like they can attain the one million in Family Score and adding more and higher goals won’t do that. We need to let them catch up a little before Ganz adds more goals/prizes. I administer four accounts – two large (hundreds of pets) and old, two small (less than 20 pets) and relatively new. Like you, my large accounts have long since received that little trophy, but the small accounts are just now approaching the 700,000 mark, and that’s with me filling hearts pretty much every day. Personally, I think Ganz is doing this one right in letting the ‘little guy’ catch up.
I have collected quite a few but still not getting 10 a day. QUESTION can we get a TIP JAR to add (?) medallions to and place them later when we want to ? WHEN the time comes I need just 1 more to adopt a pet if I have 10 (?) medallions in the jar I will be ably to use them as needed and get that pet finished with less stress and waiting . Wondering if and WHEN that final medallion will come . THIS would be so helpful !!
That is what the ANY PET Medallion is for.
I want a tip jar to store the (?) medallions in TILL I get to the end of a pet like 99 and just need 1 more. THEN I can take 1 from the jar to finish that pet. ANY pet madallions are rare so far I have gotten NONE and waiting for that last medallion that matches a pet can take a while. MY way there is like 10 we can save for that reason and wait less.
