Upcoming Changes to Google Chrome: How They Will Affect Webkinz

On September 4, Google will be releasing a new version of Chrome that will affect your experience with Webkinz.

Starting with that update, you will need to approve the use of Flash each time you load your browser. When you visit Webkinz for the first time, you will see this:

Please click Allow Flash Player. You will then see this:

Again, click Allow. You are now complete and ready to play Webkinz. As long as you do not close your browser (you keep one window/tab open) you will not have to reapprove Flash. So if you log out of Webkinz, you will be able to log back in without any issues. If you do fully close your browser, you will need to approve Flash again the next time you open it.

Currently, this change will only affect Chrome, though we do expect this change to soon be introduced to other browsers like Edge and Firefox.

As many of you have heard, Flash – the technology on which Webkinz runs – will be removed completely from browsers in 2020. As that time nears, using Flash in browsers will become more difficult. We are fully aware of the challenges that this will pose to fans of Webkinz.

We at GANZ are dedicated to ensuring that Webkinz can be enjoyed for years to come. We currently are working on multiple projects that will keep you playing and enjoying your pets, as well as take the game into the future for even more fun. While we cannot discuss the specifics of those projects at this time (they are in development and their details may change) we do hope to begin sharing details by the end of the year.

As always, thanks for being such amazing fans.

-Your furry friends in Webkinz World.

Question: I play webkinz off of 2 iPads when I am on the go,and an apple computer when at home. Will this google chrome update affect my webkinz account on my computer????

    • ImaPepper says:

It’s not likely to affect your Apple devices, unless you have downloaded the Chrome browser. If you have another browser, like Firefox or Edge, you will not be affected by the Chrome update.

I certainly want to add my voice to the chorus of Thanks to Ganz for letting us know about this ahead of time. Also to thank the team for working so hard to keep Webkinz up and running for us. And, to beg Please Please make it happen! I am an old, retired, great grandma but I have so enjoyed this game for more than 10 years. I have the app on my phone, but can really only play on the desk computer. I have invested so much time and money in the game that I’m really ashamed to admit it, but I will keep cheering you on! Keep on keeping on, Ganz, you can do it, and we appreciate you so much!!

I’m old and retired too and computer user only. Enjoying WW since the beginning and a big daily part of my life. Thanks for doing all you can Ganz and for this wonderful site.

I also am and old (ish) retired Great Grandma and have been playing for ten years. Also have app but play totally on computer. I had a difficult childhood and was forced to “grow up” really fast. Webkinz came along and taught me to play. It gave me friends and a reason to get up in the morning. I cannot imagine life without Webkinz. All of my money that is not used for food and bills goes into Webkinz. I thank you for the update and for doing your best to keep us connected to our furry loved ones. I probably have over 1,000 pets in 9 accounts and a bunch I have not adopted yet. The thought of losing all of this is horrifying. GO GANZ! KEEP US PLAYING!

This won’t affect me too much because I already have to do this each time I sign into Webkinz World on my public library’s computers. I guess you might say this has already become routine for me. ♪♫LadyBeauty♪♫

I want to thank you also for all the hard work you are doing to keep Webkinz alive and growing. I have been a faithful player/fan since about 2007 and play almost every day. have been told I’m a little obsessed with Webkinz. but it brings me joy and I love it!!!!! Thank you again for all you do!!

  8. SteveMc says:

Thanks for the update. I’m retired and use my laptop and mouse daily to while away many hours. Oh, to have had this wonderful Webkinz sight when I was a kid. Thank you for doing all you can to keep it available when all the changes are made with flash. Don’t have a mobile – don’t want one – too technical for me. Sure hope we all can keep playing on computers once flash goes away. Thanks for doing all you can to keep us all able to play.

    • Amygirl113 says:

Retiree here too and agree with all that Steve said. Thanks Ganz for helping all of us computer users to hopefully still be able to play when flash goes away.

  9. Amypat19 says:

As one of the retirees here, I’m so glad you are working to keep WW on a computer rather than all the fancy mobile stuff. I am a computer person only and will miss WW terribly if it would go away. Thanks for doing all you can to keep it up and running for us all – young and old – computer and mobile.
