Upcoming Changes to Google Chrome: How They Will Affect Webkinz

On September 4, Google will be releasing a new version of Chrome that will affect your experience with Webkinz.

Starting with that update, you will need to approve the use of Flash each time you load your browser. When you visit Webkinz for the first time, you will see this:

Please click Allow Flash Player. You will then see this:

Again, click Allow. You are now complete and ready to play Webkinz. As long as you do not close your browser (you keep one window/tab open) you will not have to reapprove Flash. So if you log out of Webkinz, you will be able to log back in without any issues. If you do fully close your browser, you will need to approve Flash again the next time you open it.

Currently, this change will only affect Chrome, though we do expect this change to soon be introduced to other browsers like Edge and Firefox.

As many of you have heard, Flash – the technology on which Webkinz runs – will be removed completely from browsers in 2020. As that time nears, using Flash in browsers will become more difficult. We are fully aware of the challenges that this will pose to fans of Webkinz.

We at GANZ are dedicated to ensuring that Webkinz can be enjoyed for years to come. We currently are working on multiple projects that will keep you playing and enjoying your pets, as well as take the game into the future for even more fun. While we cannot discuss the specifics of those projects at this time (they are in development and their details may change) we do hope to begin sharing details by the end of the year.

As always, thanks for being such amazing fans.

I haven’t turned my computer off, and have kept Webkinz open since the 19th. Now, I can’t get on to Webkinz at all even though in both Chrome and Internet Explorer I have made sure that Adobe Flash Player is allowed. But, Now I can’t get on Webkinz anywhere, I can get to Webkinz Newz as well as Estore, But, can’t log in to play.

I done as you recommended, but every time I’m logging to webkinz I have to allow flash. Can I do something else to make this webkinz link to be permanently? Please help! Thanks!

If you don’t close your Webkinz window, it’ll remember it longer. But you’ll have to do this every time you close the window Webkinz is running in and open it up again.

Thanks, Sally for your quick responses. I hope that Webkinz programmers have a already made progress with the Adobe flash alternative, and we can use whatever you come up with for other sites. Would you happen to know if other Adobe products are being phased out?

Am I understanding this correctly? If I use chrome for Webkinz and I turn my computer off, I will have to go through the stuff that took quite awhile to do in order to use Webkinz again? (for some reason my computer did not have the same buttons showed in this article, had to research)

Help! I use chrome, and I clicked for it to Allow the Flash player, yet when I go to the Webkinz World pop-up screen, and log-in it has the white screen with the lego on it saying ‘Right-click to allow Flash’ I right click and click allow flash, but nothing happens! HELP!

Thank you, Webkinz, for keeping up with the technology. Flash seems such a good performance item! Its loss will present quite a challenge to much software.

I am not old or retired, but i am an older player. I also have been a member since very close to the beginning of Webkinz. I do use Google Chrome and I really hope that it is not too much of a bother as I only have one laptop to play on. I appreciate your update, and the pictures of how to use the new Chrome update. Thanks! That will help me a lot!
