URGENT: Keep Playing With the Desktop App!

Due to an issue beyond our control, as of January 1, 2021, Webkinz Classic will no longer work on browsers. The Flash plug-in, which is required for our site to run will not be supported by browsers after December 31, 2020.

The good news is that Webkinz Classic has a downloadable Desktop App that functions exactly the same way as our original site, but it doesn’t require a browser in order to play!

To make sure your play is uninterrupted, it’s important to download the Desktop App as soon as possible.

Ask your parents for help downloading the Desktop App and installing it on your computer.

Downloading the app is simple. Just visit the Webkinz homepage, and click one of the download buttons. There is a version for Windows and a version for Mac.

When the download has completed click on the wxsetup.exe in Windows or wxsetup.dmg on Mac in your Downloads folder and follow the prompts.

Once it is installed, you’re all set! You can continue to enjoy the same game you know and love!

And remember – you must install the Webkinz Classic Desktop App before January 2021 in order to enjoy uninterrupted play.

I am happy to say that as a Mac user, I finally got the Mac Desktop Classic to work. I do however have a question/concern. Since we have to download this version of Desk App before Dec31/20, what happens in ‘time’ down the road when I have to update my computer. Hopefully I can transfer my data but if I can’t, will Webkinz Classic be around to download. Should we be making a backup or two now? Will this downloadable App always be available? Or some other way for us to keep Webkinz Classic? Thank you too for making this all possible.

What will happen to things such as the Ganz Estore and Kinzapedia? Both of those require Flash to view certain stuff.

I wish the desktop app would save usernames and passwords. I help my nieces and nephews on their accounts, and I hate having to type the info on every account. I also wish you would show the taskbar so I could minimize the screen. I don’t always remember to leave a file open in the background so I can do alt+tab to minimize it. I’d also like to be able to use my snipping tool. I always save a snip when I get high score of the day on a game.

Hello Sally Webkinz, I am having difficulty installing the Webkinz Desktop App. on my iMac. My operating system is OS 10.13.6 and my Flashplayer is up to date for Safari at 32.0.0.453. I read awhile back about needing to install the “correct” version of Flash in order for the Mac Desktop App to work. Is that still the case? If so, will you please repost the instructions on Newz so I can follow them and hopefully have a successful installation. Thank you.

Is the Flash-free desktop version for Mac available yet?

Please let us mute the game and minimize the box.

I was so happy to find the desktop app! I didn’t understand this was replacing the flash-player issue. I have been very concerned. Thank you so much for explaining it here so well. Webkinz has been my online “getaway” for years. So, so grateful that you all had it figured out. Question: if an issue ever came up where we had a computer issue and had to re-install the desktop app, would it still be available after Jan 1? #Webkinzrocks

After the latest update, there have been quite a few instances of the screen going blank when moving to a different area, such as the park or the clubhouse, or leaving again. I’m wondering if other people are experiencing this also. I also have a question: would it be possible in a future update to make it so it isn’t full screen? I find that quite annoying, to be honest, that we can’t minimize it.

    • anon55 says:

Agree, and yes I’ve also experienced the blank or freezing screen as well as being sent to somewhere I didn’t click.

I agree, I have had lots of blank screens, especially at the Curio Shop. It also has a habit of freezing in the Clubhouse and after you play Spree. I frequently have to get up Taskmaster to close it all down and start again. Would also like to be able to minimize it, as it is impossible to see what else it happening as it takes the whole screen. Perhaps we could also know what will happen to the Ganzworld site and our Ganz Rewards after the end of the year, should we spend all our points now. If so, I found I couldn’t on Google, but it will allow on Firefox.

Hello Ritzcracker, this is a good idea.

HI Ritzcracker, Mine has a tendency of going blank from one room to another. If I click on the games on our bottom border, it seems to clear out and I can go back to what I was doing.
