Due to an issue beyond our control, as of January 1, 2021, Webkinz Classic will no longer work on browsers. The Flash plug-in, which is required for our site to run will not be supported by browsers after December 31, 2020.
The good news is that Webkinz Classic has a downloadable Desktop App that functions exactly the same way as our original site, but it doesn’t require a browser in order to play!
To make sure your play is uninterrupted, it’s important to download the Desktop App as soon as possible.
Ask your parents for help downloading the Desktop App and installing it on your computer.
Downloading the app is simple. Just visit the Webkinz homepage, and click one of the download buttons. There is a version for Windows and a version for Mac.
When the download has completed click on the wxsetup.exe in Windows or wxsetup.dmg on Mac in your Downloads folder and follow the prompts.
Once it is installed, you’re all set! You can continue to enjoy the same game you know and love!
And remember – you must install the Webkinz Classic Desktop App before January 2021 in order to enjoy uninterrupted play.
So, I tried to install it on my Mac Book, and Microsoft said that they can’t find my device. How are apple users support to download the app?
Microsoft is the Windows version; Mac runs IOS….they are different operating systems. If you’re looking for the desktop app, just click the button for the Mac version. The new Webkinz game doesn’t have a Mac version out yet, so if that’s the game you’re looking for, we just have to wait. It should be out soon.
The app is not available in the Microsoft store.
I downloaded and installed it from the webkinz front page. I have windows 10. I played it yesterday and it worked fine.
It is locate on the log in page of Webkinz that is where I found it.
So will there be any way to play on, say, a Chromebook after Dec 31? Not everyone has a Windows computer or Mac.
I miss the side ads in the browser version too radish33. I bet the Ganz geniuses can make the desktop app look and work like the Classic browser in time. Thanks Ganz!
I totally feel the same way raish33 about missing the side ads in the desktop app. Ganz had no control over losing Flash, though, and I am sure the geniuses over there can update the app to look and work just like the browser version. Thanks Ganz!
I wish it was part of the screen instead of the whole thing.
I agree! That’s the only downside to the app, I like to multi task
Anybody having trouble with the desktop app? It does not work for me. I can walk around my house, but as soon as I try to open anything else (arcade, curio shop, etc.) the game freezes. Super frustrating and I’ve had to go back to the web version to actually play the game. Hopefully this is resolved by December. I’m on a Mac btw.
I deleted and redownloaded the app & the problem is not resolved. Any advice? Thanks.
i love how all the comments are always deleted here, like they dont want us asking any questions. all i wanted to know was how am i gonna be able to access my old webkinz pets, i really dont like the new 1s, had alot of money invested in the old site
Your old webkinz pets are in the webkinz classic app!
They are in the new app too, I just down loaded and played with them. Which is just like the old but takes up the whole screen.
Help! The link on the webkinz.com homepage for the Webkinz classic Mac Desktop version will not open, it just opens a window of the same picture, no download! I wonder if you could try posting the download link here on newz?
Flash is telling me to remove it from my desktop, but the Desktop version still requires flash, does it not? So I should leave the program on my computer as is????
If you’re using the browser version of Webkinz, it won’t work after the end of this year. You will need to download the desktop app, instead. It doesn’t use Flash. If you’re using the app, then you are getting a notification that you still have Adobe Flash installed on your computer.
