The forecast has changed!
by Nibbles Hooray! I woke up this morning and turned on the TV and guess what? It looks like the rainstorm that was forecast for this weekend blew way north of Kinzville up to Northern Webkinz World! It’s going to miss us entirely. I got on the phone to Salley and she was thrilled! It looks like this Fall Fair is ON! So, with blue skies ahead now it’s time for clean up! Salley has organized us into teams (well, actually to be honest – it was Purr-cilla who organized all the volunteers and made sure every job was covered, but Salley doesn’t like to be reminded of that) and it’s been going really smoothly so far. I’m teamed up with Cowabelle and we’ve borrowed some rakes from the school custodian. We’ve already started clearing away the leaves from all the games areas, and we’ve got the spaces roped off where the rides are going to go. Molly’s Craft
I always have great ideas, but usually have a hard time remembering them. Fortunately, I’ve got this terrific craft to help! What you need: Small pad of sticky notes, construction paper, scissors, glue, stickers, markers – whatever you want to use to decorate the cover of the note pad What you do: Cut a piece of construction paper to fit over the sticky notes. It should fit the back and front, like the cover of a book. Glue the cover to the back of the pad of sticky notes. Decorate the front and back. These are super-handy to keep in your backpack!
Cupcake contest is in the works!
By Purr-cilla Wow! You know that golden vase I mentioned the other day, and how we thought about raffling it off? Well, that is not going to fly apparently. Fluffington came nosing around today asking about the cupcake decorating contest and wondering whether there were any leftovers or rejects that needed disposing of, and saying that he would love to offer his opinion on any cupcake recipes if anyone wanted him to test theirs. Sheesh! Be a little more obvious, would you, Fluffy? He’s been going around asking everybody about their designs for their cupcakes. We’ve all been working really hard on our designs and nobody wants to show Fluffington before the big day, but man – is he persistent! He kept dropping hints about his favorite flavors (lemon cake and chocolate icing) and his favorite designs – he said whatever happened he hoped he didn’t see any teacup designs. Tour of Webkinz World: St. Bernard Gallery
By Molly Pig I was so excited to get to report on the St. Bernard Gallery of Fine Arts! I absolutely LOVE this place. I decided the best way to learn all about its colorful history was to talk to its founders, Fluffington and Meriwether St. Bernard. This is what they had to say. MP: Thanks for sitting down with me today, Fluffington and Meriwether! FSB: Not a problem, my dear. I’m always happy to talk about art. MSB: And I’m always happy to talk about teacups. MP: I guess that’s the first thing; the St. Bernard Gallery of Fine Arts isn’t just about paintings and sculptures – it also features Webkinz World’s only teacup exhibit. MSB: The crowning glory of the gallery, if I do say so myself. FSB: Well, that’s YOUR opinion, Great-Aunt Meriwether. Some people appreciate the paintings and sculptures, you know. MP: Of course, I didn’t mean to say that – MSB: Yes, Fluffington, everyone likes your pictures and statues. They’re all very nice. But do you know why people COME to the gallery in the first place? Alex’s Sweet Craft
This is a super-easy (and yummy) craft! What you need:Candy bars, scrapbooking paper, scissors, glue stick, markers What you do: Cut your scrapbooking paper to fit over top of the wrapped chocolate bar. Decorate your paper – create your own chocolate bar name and design. Glue the paper in place. Make a whole bunch of these – they’re very popular!
Calling for Rain
Salley Cat here. Oh no! Oh no, oh no, oh no!!! After all of our planning and hard work – oh, you are never going to believe this! I just checked the weather reports and on Saturday in Kinzville they’re calling for rain! And not a little rain – it’s going to be, like, major thunderstorms! OH NOOOOOO! Okay, I have put in a call to Stoogles and Purr-cilla (I’m sure she will say she knew all along that it was going to rain and that if she had been president this never would have happened!) so we can come up with a backup plan. I’ve been thinking – a lot of the games can be set up in the auditorium if we clear away the chairs. And maybe, just maybe, we can set up the slide and the bumper cars in the gym. We could hold the cupcake contest judging in one of the classrooms. I still have to clear that with Ms. Cowoline though. Cowabelle’s Hula Hoop Game
Cowabelle here with the easiest fair game EVER! All you need are some hula hoops and some participants! What you need: Hula hoops, participants (one per hoop) What you do: Have everyone get into hula-hooping position. Yell “Start!” and everyone should start hooping. As players drop their hoops, they’re out. The last player still spinning their hoop is the winner! If you have a group of hooping experts, you can always challenge them to go faster or slower and see if they can keep their hoops moving!
Purr-cilla’s Cat Cupcake
Well, of course I am going to make the most awesome creature ever for my cupcake – a cat! What you need: – cupcake – white icing – marshmallows – coconut flakes – pink Smarties – chocolate chips What you do: Ice your cupcake and cover it with coconut flakes. Cut a thin circle off each end of a marshmallow to make your cat’s cheeks. Set the circles side by side at the bottom half of the top of your cupcake and press a pink Smartie in between them at the top to form a nose. Cut another marshmallow in half lengthwise and then cut one half diagonally to form two ears and affix them to the top of your cat’s ‘face’. Add two chocolate chips for eyes and your cute kitty cupcake is ready!
