Camp Craft: Fortune Teller

Step 1.

Get a piece of construction paper or computer printer paper.

Step 2: Fold one corner of your paper across to make a triangle. You’re going to remove the remaining rectangle part at the end of the paper so you’ll end up with a square piece of paper.

Step 3: This is your square paper (OK, so it’s folded in half – but that’s good! You want it to look like this).

Step 4: Fold your triangles in half, like this.

Step 5: Unfold your triangles. You’ll have a square that looks like this.

Step 6: Fold each point of the square toward the middle. This will make four triangle-shaped flaps.

Step 7: Flip over your square and do the same on the other side (fold all four points toward the center).

Step 8: Fold your paper in half. Put your thumbs and first fingers under the flaps and puff them out.

Step 9: This is what your fortune teller should look like, after it’s all puffed up.

Step 10: On the outside of your fortune teller, write the names of colors or animals. Make sure some names have an even number of letters and some have an add number of letters!

Step 11: On the inner flaps, write the numbers 1-8.

Step 12: Lift up each triangle and write a comment under each section of each flap. Make the fortunes fun, like ‘You will get an A.’ or ‘You will go on an exciting trip!’

How to play: put the fortune teller on your hands (with your first fingers and thumbs moving it). Have your friend choose an animal (or color) from the outside flap. Say the letters in the word as you move the fortune teller. Have your friend choose a number. Move the fortune teller as you count out the number. Have your friend choose another number. Lift the flap and read their fortune!

Me too. They are pretty cool. My favorite things to make are ninja stars, though. I make regular, double-sided, and 8-pointed ninja stars. They are super easy to make and are soooooo cool. NINJA! $~Addict502~$

I tried making fortune tellers, ninja stars, and origami. I failed miserably. :P But I am excellent at making snowballs. XD.
