Hey ‘Kinz friends,

Have you ever had to speak in public? Like…in front of an audience? If you have, maybe you know how I feel right now: nervous. SO NERVOUS.

I’m kind of freaking out.

I’ve got to do a book report in front of my class. I’ve read the book and I’ve written the speech – and my mom said it sounded really good (I’m not too scared to read it to her). I just don’t know what I’m going to do when it’s my turn to talk. I’m so afraid I’ll panic!

What do you do when you’re nervous, friends? I need some good advice!

First, take deep breaths. Second, be yourself. Third, picture everyone in front of you in their underwear…

Just don’t look at the audience. What is right behind and a little above them…a poster or a clock? An exit sign? Look up there and imagine your trying to talk to that. It will carry your voice (because it’s farther away from you than the audience) and you can only see it, not a bunch of anxious faces looking at you.

I’m on my schools speech team, you prepare an 8 min. speech and present it at competitions 3 times and get judged and ranked! :)

I know that all of the WW characters are not really real, but I love how people give advice to them! It is kinda like you are giving advice to a WW member that may be having the same problem.

parctice your speech infront of the mirror or your family!

and then when you do it, focus your attention at a friend or sibling. someone you are comfortable with!

When you are in class, before its your turn, watch what happens when the others are giving their speeches. Don’t think about your speech, but really pay attention. You will probably notice that most the class isn’t really there at all. Most are thinking about their own speeches. Next, you will see someone else slip up. It will happen more than you realize, ’cause you have been so nervous before, you most likely didn’t notice. When it happens, you will see that it isn’t a big deal. The class didn’t boo. maybe they laughed a little, but they really won’t remember. If all else fails… imagine everyone in their underwear. When it’s over, breath… and don’t forget to breath when you up there too!
    Good luck,
and good luck to you too snowcares

Hey Alex, I’m just like you. Once I had to do a French speech in front of the class.
I was so freaked. My strategy was since it was a French speech, and I’m really good at French,
I just used long french words that probably only me and the teacher knew! My advice is to use complicated words
so only you and the teacher know! At the end of my speech, I was kind of happy that almost noone
knew what I said! : ) And I got an A! Not kidding!
And, hey readers, my screen name is Gabriella♥ (I won’t say my real name…) and my
username is fdty23 if you want to add me as a friend.

You know what? what i always think of is that people aren’t really paying attention to you when you read stuff.. well at least that’s what happens in my school. But you have nice people in your class so just be yourself, don’t shake, and read like you normally would cause you know if you want to be a scientist when you grow up, you’re gonna have to speak in front of crowds sometimes :)

Don’t look anyone in the eye. Part of the speech grade IS eye contact, but if your looking just over the Kinz’s heads, no one will notice! And neither will you!!
