Campkinz Room Design Challenge
Hailey here! So I am thinking about maybe working with a new designer since Elwin is gone. I’ve been talking with Wiggles Pig about the possibility of the two of us collaborating on some projects. I also had an application for a summer intern job from a surprisingly young applicant – Plumpy asked me if I would consider letting Nibbles help out around the office while she’s off school. Apparently Nibbles has always had a passion for designing in her own room and Plumpy thought it would be good for her to have something to occupy her while she gets used to the fact that her newlywed big sis wouldn’t be around so much. I could certainly use some help keeping this place in order since I’m on my own now so I thought it was a great idea.
I also thought it might be fun to see how my style meshes with both Wiggles and Nibbles by setting us all a design challenge: we are each going to design a Campkinz-themed room! We each started with the same room with Campkinz Flooring and Wallpaper. You can let me know what you think of each design.
Here are the results:
Nibbles’ Campkinz Room
Nibbles’ room is pretty basic, but then isn’t that what camp is all about? I think it’s great. It’s got space for three campers to sleep, a fire pit with a sitting area, and a desk area to write letters home, as well as some storage for a raft, oars, surfboards and a handy backpack. I think this is a pretty nice looking space for a beginner, don’t you?
Wiggles’ Design
Wow! I have always said that Wiggles had flair. He went in a totally different direction and decided to create a Campkinz-themed studio apartment for one. Is it ever cool! He chose the Nomad Tent bed and paired it with the Long Neck Deck Chair to create a primitive sleeping area. His kitchenette features a Chef Gazpacho stove and the Campkinz Kitchen Set as well as a kitchen island. And he used the Campkinz Picnic Table and Benches for a rustic eating nook. He even divided off one corner to create a simple bathroom featuring a Pirate’s Rub-a-Dub Washtub. Nice job, Wiggles!
Hailey’s Room
Here is my version and I will admit I cheated a bit and used some of my favorite spa pieces to create my bathroom space. I wanted a room where three campers can sleep comfortably, with a bathroom, an eating area and a lounge. I think that this would be a pretty neat space to hang out in for a week or two, don’t you?
Personally, Nibbles room is more like the ones I have seen at camps I have attended. Who has food in the cabin where they sleep? I was told food attracts critters so all food went to the animal proof dining hall for storage (even food we brought – we could get it anytime, but it had to be in the dining hall.) The other two designs are, in my opinion, WAY TOO MUCH for camp! (Sorry, Hailey and Wiggles!) Don’t get me wrong: they are really nice, just not really for a camp experience. Great job everyone, but I like Nibbles’s design the best. All the best! MDIChickadee
Hailey, I knew you’d do fantastic without Elwin. You really didn’t make things to clear. Is there an outdoor shower and outhouses like in a camp ground or overnight camp or is this a private cabin. If it’s a private cabin I, of course, vote for you. If not I go with Nibbbles, there’s plenty of room for more cots. I do like Wiggles hide-a-way, I could move in right now, but, there’s no way I’m ever sleeping on the floor again. Been there, done that, have the tee shirt to prove it. jennifer
I think I like Nibbles’ best. ~~O~~SapphireSea~*~*~
I like Wiggles, very creative! <3
I like Hailey’s the best.
Hailey wins this one!! There is only one person who can sleep in the Wiggles design. Nibbles design is pretty good, but you do need a bathroom!! I live the spa type bathromm in Haileys’ design.
@KinzKount- not necessarily ……..
They are all great designs. Nibble’s is best for a basic camp cabin. Wiggles’ looks like it could be a beach get-a-way room. And Hailey’s is like a high-end resort cabin in the mountains. It would be hard to decide which one is best.
cool! i love Hailey’s design and Nibbles it pretty awesome too!
I want Nibbles to win. But I’m not sure if she wins this one.
Cool! I love all the designs- great work!- but my favorite out of all of them would have to be Hailey’s design. I think it’s nice looking, homey, and cozy, a great combination for a summer camp cabin! Although, I really liked Nibbles idea to put a desk in there so kids could right home. I know I would want to right home if I were at an overnight camp. -Stargazer
I love nibbles design but I think it should have a bathroom like wiggles.
I think that Wiggles is the best option, in my opinion. Like Hailey said, they should have a bathroom and eating area, but it should still feel, hmm, outdoors-ish. Hailey’s I think is a bit too deluxe for a camp cabin. But, in Wiggles design, there is only ONE bed. I think they should have at least six beds in a camp cabin. ~~Rainbow*Rain~~
I think that the last two are too crowded, and the first one isn’t enough. All of the rooms are a mix of too many different items that do not go together. I agree @rainbowrain, the cabin should have six beds. I think that they also need a basic bathroom, and small, simple eating area. I think the cabin should take care of all of your basic needs, nothing more nothing less. The cabin should have no unneeded luxuries, like in Hailey’s room- especially the bathroom. You need to be able to really experience nature, not spend your time inside. Therefor, I vote for Nibble’s
At my camp, the cabins are like Nibbles’s design. You go to the bath house on you campsite or to main lodge to use the bathroom and shower.
I TOTALLY agree Stargazer! Hailey’s design is awesome. I must say, If I HAD to go to camp…… I would want to have a spa bathroom! (Oh, btw, I also like like the idea of having a desk to write home. Oh, that brings up another point, is that the right/write your talking about, is Write. Ta ta for now! (lol)
Thanks for agreeing @oldwooffle! And oops, I meant write! :D -Stargazer
I think Nibbles’ neatness combined with Wiggles’ kitchen island and Plumpy’s bathroom corner would make a perfect CampKinz cabin! ~Phoenix Wind~
Wow! Awesome work on the rooms guys! But I think I would have to vote for Hailey’s room, because I just think it’s so relaxing and cozy! Great job of thinking of the wellness spa walls on the side! Your Friend ~nihao9~! ♥
Oh my. They certainly are. . . unique. I would had used the Spa theme for the bathroom also, I have to give you a thumbs up on that Hailey. But I would have wanted more of something that says ”I’m outside”, but with a touch of ”I’m close to home”. Something a little more relaxing, something the campers can come back to and relax, even for just a second. And they need some desks, who doesn’t want to write home? I would. -Moonstar◙◙◙
I have a load of exclusive items that I don’t want, so if anyone has a lot that they don’t want, I can send mine to you and you can send yours to me! My username is mjdpug, so request me, then send me your items, and ill send you mine back!!!
I like Hailey’s more! I love spa! There will be a spa at the dojo i’ll be at the WHOLE SUMMER. the green ninja.
I agree @Stargazer!!!! I think everyone did a great job and all the rooms would suit people of different styles. I really liked Nibbles desk idea also but Hailey’s way of dividing things without the dividers made the room have a neat, organized feel to it. the beds were in one corner, and then the bathroom was right near the sleeping area. The camp kitchen set separated the eating area from the couches and fireplace. I would definitely stay there!
