Decorating on a Budget – Making a Studio!

Wiggles Pig here again. Well, Webkinz fans, it seems like I’m getting quite a reputation for creating marvelous rooms on a not-so-marvelous budget. My latest project? I have a client who asked me to create a funky multi-purpose studio where she can work and occasionally hold meetings. That’s a pretty tall order from someone who had only $2,500 to spend, but you know how I love a challenge.

My favorite walls for creating an airy studio are the Elegant Exposed Brick. I just love the eclectic mix of colors and textures. When you’re trying to create several work areas within one room, it’s a good idea to keep things bright so the light pine flooring gives the illusion of more space.

I spotted the bamboo desk and shelving the minute I walked into the W Shop.  I knew the natural material would be perfect to add interest to our studio – and the price was perfect too. I love to re-purpose things, using items as something other than what they’re intended to be, so I thought the rattan toy box for $100 would make an ideal work surface adjacent to the desk.

I added industrial flair with a drafting table and Shining Shop Lamp in the corner. For our meeting space, I couldn’t pass up the dance recital chairs – their price tag of $85 each had me dancing with joy!  I paired them with a simple wooden table. And an old-fashioned clock for just $70 will ensure my client’s meetings always run on schedule.

My one splurge? I couldn’t resist the Ancient Monkey Mask at $300. But that’s okay. Because I didn’t monkey around when I was shopping for this studio, there was enough left for the mask and even a little to spare.

It’s…….ok. It’s more of a boy gender, and I personally wouldn’t want to be in a boy themed room to work, because I am a girl. I honestly don’t like it. It’s looks to plain and simple. It needs flair!
