Friendship Focus: Patience

My best friend in the whole world is Laurabeard. I’ve learned a lot from Laura, but one of the most important things I’ve learned from my friend is patience. Laura never seems to let anything get to her.

I remember once Laura’s mom and dad made Laura’s brother, Dogbeard, take her along on one of his pirate expeditions. Dogbeard was NOT happy and let everyone know it. In fact, he got so mad that he actually abandoned his own ship! I think that if my sister, Plumpy, had treated me that way, I would’ve lost it, but Laura kept a cool head – even when Dogbeard embarrassed her in front of his crew – and she ended up saving the ship from a dangerous storm.

I think patience is a really important skill because sometimes we disagree with the choices our friends (or siblings) make, and that can be a real test of our friendship.

Patience means putting up with our friends’ quirks and behaviors – even the ones that drive us crazy. If Laura could stick by her brother after he was so rude to her, I can learn to be patient with my friends and accept them as they are.

Friendship is about being there for one another, and sometime that means just keeping cool and demonstrating patience even when things don’t go your way.

    Patience is something I lack. I get irritated at the drop of a hat. I have no patience whatsoever. I’ll work on that though. ;)

    I’m going to agree with Unet101′s comment. Patience is very hard! Just remember that you should always try to live from your heart, meaning you should be genuine… you should be yourself. Of course the only natural thing to do is to get impatient in a situation such as that, but with lots (believe me it takes LOTS) of practice, it’ll be much easier to be patient!

    Yeah patience is one of the most important things with a friend or anyone! It says so in the Bible. Patience can be very hard sometimes when you get a bad temper. Like if you get into a fight with one of your brothers or sisters or if your friend gets into an argument with you or something like that. XD
