Fun Memory Games

I’ve been helping PJ come up with fun games for the campers and I got to thinking about some memory games I used to play with my family.

‘What’s Missing?’

You get a tray and put about 10 to 20 items on it. Using a timer, let everyone study the tray for one minute, then cover the tray, take it away and remove one item. After a minute, return the tray, uncover it, and the first person to shout out the missing object is the winner.

It’s good to have a big box of items handy so that the winner can take the tray away and make up a new collection of objects for the next round.

‘Now You See It, Now You Don’t’

Sometimes it’s also fun to put the tray out, let everyone study it for a minute, then cover it and after a minute or so get everyone to write down as many objects as they can remember. When you can’t remember any more objects, compare your notes with your friends to see who has the best memories.

‘Eyewitness’

With all the campers sitting in the Mess Hall, I have one of the counselors, like Amanda come in for a few minutes. Trying to be as casual and unrehearsed as possible, Amanda has certain ‘tasks’ she has to do, like talk to a few different campers, move an item from one table to another, open one of the windows, change an item on the chalkboard menu, and pick up a couple of things and take them away with her. She has to try not to make anything she does look too obvious. Once Amanda is gone, we ask the campers to be ‘eyewitnesses’ and try to remember as many details about her visit as possible. We ask questions like, ‘What color of shirt was Amanda wearing?’, ‘Who was the second camper she spoke to?’, ‘Which table was the _____ sitting on before she moved it?’, ‘What was written on the chalkboard BEFORE Amanda changed it?’ etc., etc.  I have the campers write down their answers on pieces of paper and when they’re done, it’s fun to compare notes and see how many details the kids could remember.

I agree. In music class, the main ( fun ) part was: There was like a circle gamboard, and each spot had an instument or something else. Some had an ”object” sign on it. The person who landed on the dice would roll the dice and everyone goes around to thier new spot. There would also be 1 Question Mark space. There is a hoolahoop in the middle filled with different items, like a small dice, ruler, pencil and ect. The people who landed on the object would come and take an item from the hoolahoop. The person who landed on the Question Mark had to try to name the items that were taken. It is really fun. Though, you might not see all the memory in this. Well, it is music class too. -Moonstar◙◙◙

Here is another super fun game! Everyone sits in a circle or oval. There is something in front of them, like a music instrument, an object sign, the dice, or the question mark. There is only 1 dice space and only 1 question mark space. There is about 8 object spaces. ( You can have more depending on how many are playing, which for camp, should be a little more. ) And instrument spaces fill the rest. ( Block insturments like a wooden zylaphone, I know I spelled that wrong ) The dice person rolls the dice and everyone moves to thier next space. ( Go by the dice ). In the middle of the shape ( oval or circle ) is a hoola hoop filled with items like a ruler, pencil and ect.. The object people go in and grab 1 item and hide it behind thier back. ( Back at thier space ) The question mark person has to try to name the items that are taken. The instrument people play something while the question mark person is thinking. It is super fun! -Moonstar◙◙◙

I know a game I used to play in class. There is one person sitting on a chair not facing anyone. something small like a pen, eraser, card etc. is under the person’s chair. Then somebody takes the item and hides it in their shoe, behind their back etc. the person in the chair opens their eyes and chooses who they think took it and get gets at least 3 chances. If they are right then the person who got the item will give it back and go to the chair to do it again. What do ya think :?: :) ~*+lynxlover+*

Um, I have seen someone using the name Straystar. I was using that name first! I had a 2 month vacation and left in May. Can that person please pick a different name? Just because I went on vacation doesn’t mean they can take my name. Please stop. -Straystar§§§
