Hailey: Elwin and I had what might be our toughest job ever.
Elwin: You can say that again, Hailey.
H: Elwin and I had what might be our toughest job ever.
E: Sigh. Let’s just show them the picture of Meriwether’s sitting room:
H: OK, so do you want to start, or should I?
E: Go ahead, Hailey. I…don’t know what to say.
H: Alright, well Meriwether invited us over to see her sitting room. Actually, Fluffington called us up and said, “I’ve told my great-aunt to call you and ask for your help, but even if she doesn’t, please go over anyway. Her sitting room is a disaster!”
E: You know what they always say, Hailey. No amount of KinzCash can buy good taste.
H: How true! The interesting part is that some of these items are absolutely stunning on their own, but when they’re thrown together in one big room, they…well…they don’t look their best.
E: Well put.
H: Thank you.
E: Anyway, here’s the end result:
H: It’s like a breath of fresh air!
E: Meriwether is examining the wallpaper, to make sure it’s not dinged. I told her we’d be careful, but…she just wanted to see for herself.
H: Anyway, I’m really pleased with how this turned out. We kept the flooring and the wallpaper just as they were. But we moved a LOT of stuff out. And added a few new things! The bookshelf, for one.
E: Ooh, I love that book nook. That was my inspiration for the corner – leisurely reading. I can just imagine Meriwether curling up on the chaise and reading a deliciously mysterious book – and maybe eating a fruit or two.
H:Not the ones in the bowl – those are wax.
E: Ahem. Anyway, we moved the furniture around the fireplace – and removed items so you could actually SEE the fireplace.
H: And we created a little dining area. Meriwether mentioned entertaining in her sitting room, and what’s more useful than a large table and a chair for each friend?
E: Finally, we created a little corner for Meriwether’s TV. That’s what’s hidden behind the cabinet! Meriwether doesn’t like to admit it, but she really enjoys soap operas.
H: Almost as much as teacups. I’m pretty delighted about how this turned out.
E: Me too, Hailey. And I don’t think Meriwether minds it either.
H: She’ll get used to it.
I like the second one except that it is still too golden. Maybe replace some of the gold furniture with more purples or blues. Like the oriental rug.
Um…both are pretty bad. Remember, you need to work WITH the client, not do whatever you want. Saying “I don’t think Meriwether minds it.” and “She’ll get used to it is totally rude. you are trying to make the client HAPPY, not please yourself!
Peace, love, and puppies!!! XD
This is the sort of room change that I am looking for in a ‘redesign’ – keeping a lot of the elements of the original room but just changing it to make it different or better. I like it! I would have used another picture on the wall and moved the seating area out just a bit from the fireplace but otherwise I like the second room.
It is pretty good. The first one is a bit cluttered. But the second one is pretty spacial.
Room 1.
Meriwether: Come in! Have a seat!
Guest: *climbs over back of couch* *falls on coffee table*
Room 2.
Guest: *climbs over back of couch* *falls into fireplace*
Problem solved?? I think not.
Very funny. :rolls: (No really, it was pretty funny DandieDunmonts!!!) :) ;)
Usually when I design my rooms, I use items that are expensive, cheap and look good together. This is my standard room peices: Plain white bed ($395), Plain White Coffe Table (used as desk, $200), Mocha Chair (used as desk chair, $425), Plain White Couch ($425), Mocha Dresser ($625), Elegant Yellow Side Table ($250) and Hard Wood Flooring ($100-250) and Nursery Wall Paper ($250) or Mocha Swirls Wall Paper ($150). In all with the coupons I use on the more expensive items ($450 and up) I usually end up with this costing me around $2000 and below KinzCash. And the colors don’t clash like in this picture. -Moonstar◙◙◙
Soooo funny! Good observation, DandieDinmonts! I like the color and interest of the first room better and it’s better to fall onto a coffee table than into the fireplace! hahaha
This is pretty much ALL e-store! and rare idems! why not give non deluxe members some ideas?>
I like it!!!!!!!!
The after picture looks… dignified. Also, it looks like spring cleaning just went by for Meriwether’s sitting room! But, I kinda have to admit, um I like rooms with lots of furnishings in it, so it… hmm…( I’m trying to find a word to describe my feelings) Aha! Looks cozy, but not a fan of the yellow x- shaped rug, in the before picture, with the feast of fruit table on top of it.

love it redone
All they did was remove the clutter, nothing much was redesigned. I do like the redo, it’s just not really designed, just decluttered.
*spunky*
