Dear Plumpy,
Remember how I was so scared about swimming lessons? Well, not only did I survive (obviously!) but I’ve actually turned into a pretty good swimmer! I guess you were right about the water – it’s not so scary when you know what you’re doing. We learned all about water safety before we started which gave me a bit of confidence so I wasn’t quite so terrified when the time came to take the plunge.
I learned how to put my face in the water and dive down and pick up rings from the bottom of the lake. And I could float on my back and kick with my legs. Once we were comfortable with that we started learning to tread water and do the front crawl. I still have a hard time getting the breathing right while I’m doing the front crawl – it’s kind of hard to remember to do everything in the proper order.
But once I felt okay about putting my face in and realized that I wasn’t going to sink to the bottom of the lake like a rock, I felt so much more brave and ready to try more difficult stuff. I still need a lot of practice but just wait until you see how good I am!!!
Love you,
Nibbles
