Here is a simple hand puppet craft that little kids will really appreciate. I’m making mine for my little cousin!
What you need:
- Brown paper bag
- Black construction paper
- Brown construction paper
- Googly eyes
- Black crayon
- Glue
- Scissors
What you do:
Flip a paper bag upside down. The flap formed by the bottom of the bag will be your raccoon’s face.
Fold over a piece of brown construction paper and cut out two semi-circles, about 2” across.
Fold over a piece of black construction paper and cut out two smaller semi-circles, about 1” across.
Glue the black semi-circles inside the brown ones and glue them along the top of the flap at the bottom of your paper bag to form your raccoon’s ears.
Fold over a piece of black construction paper and cut out a black rectangle, about 2.5” long. With scissors, round off the corners of one side of the rectangles. Glue the two rectangles on either side of the bottom of the bag, below the ears, so that the flat side of the rectangle line up with the sides of the bag.
Glue googly eyes just inside the two black rectangles.
Fold over a piece of brown construction paper and cut two long rectangles, about 4” long. With scissors, round off the corners of one side of the rectangles. Glue the two rectangles sticking out from the sides of the bag, about halfway down the bag to form the arms.
From black construction paper cut out a black oval about 4” long and 2” wide. Glue oval onto the front of the bag, between the two arms.
From black construction paper, cut out a small oval, about .5” long. Glue it onto the flap on the bottom of the bag, just below your raccoon’s eyes to form your raccoon’s nose.
With a black crayon draw whiskers on either side of the nose.
This cute little raccoon makes an adorable companion for some lucky kid on your gift list.
I love to make puppet shows with my little sister on snowy winter mornings! So cute!
