Roberta’s Yummy Ice Pops

Hey everyone! Roberta here with a bit of a funny story to share. So Molly dropped Millie off yesterday because she had to head to the library with Polly, and I (foolishly?) agreed to babysit while she was gone. Everything started off great! I told Millie that we were going to make our very own ice pops. She was super-excited! I told her that we were going to put some berries, yogurt and sugar into the blender and mix it up. She added the ingredients, but I realized that we didn’t have quite enough sugar. I told her to wait a sec while I got it from the pantry.

Unfortunately, Millie didn’t quite understand.

And that’s why she pressed the ‘blend’ button while I was out of the room.

And while the lid was noticeably missing from the blender.

And that’s why part of the kitchen wall is now a very nice violet-pink color.

Anyway, I cleaned up as best I could and we tried the recipe again (with me standing right next to Millie the WHOLE time) and thankfully the pops turned out fantastically.

My mom wasn’t too thrilled about the new wall color, but I figure it’ll fade in time…right?

If you want to give the recipe a try, here’s what you need!

1 cup of berries (we used strawberries and raspberries, washed and cut up)

1 cup plain yogurt

1/8 cup white sugar

What you do:

  1. Put the ingredients into a blender. Put the lid on and blend them.
  2. Pour the mixture into small paper cups or an ice pop mold. Add sticks to the cups or mold.
  3. Put the pops in the freezer and leave them for several hours to freeze.
  4. When the pops are frozen, take them out of the mold or cups and eat up!

Wow! What a mess that must have been!! You know, Roberta, you are so relaxed about everything. And it sounds like your mom maybe, too (maybe that is where you get it from …) This recipe sounds really yummy. My mom does something like that, but it makes a smoothie: frozen berries mixed with some plain yogurt and a bit of sugar in a blender (that has its lid in place – LOL!). MMMMM. And no waiting for it to freeze!!

Yum! I love to make ice pops! One of my favorite combos is pineapple and mango. It’s so good!

Roberta, Millie is probably to short to see that the lid wasn’t on, or that the blender even needed a lid. Get down on your knees sometime and walk around, things look a whole lot different. Your going to have to think of stuff like that when you start babysitting. jennifer

That is really funny! We should try making those some time, with the hot, hot (110 degrees) summer coming on we’ll need them. (Even though I like ice cream better.)

Roberta, sometimes you have to understand little children their and doings. Millie doesn’t quite understand using a blender, I mean how to use one. So, she probably was so excited to make them that she couldn’t handle herself. So, as a result, she pressed the “blend” button. Roberta’s mom- sometimes you have to forgive and forget.. Millie is only so-and-so years old, and I understand that she can be quite the troublemaker. Maybe you can make her listen by bribing? As for the very nice colored violet-pink color on the kitchen wall, next time you baby-sit Millie, maybe you can draw some creative pictures with her and tape them over the colored part of the wall. Anyways in Wisconsin(I live in that state) it is really hot outside(like 90 degrees which is really hot here) so I”ll be sure to make these pops! ~SugarComet*** P.S. Sorry if I posted this twice.

Oh my goodness! If Molly had just taken Milly to the library with her none of this would have happened! She could just read some picture books on the couch (we have a really cool couch corner at our library) Cool pop recipe though I will have to try it sometime.
