Secret Friendship Skill: Creating Your Own Secret Code

Hey, crew – it’s me, Sparky Fact!

I’ve had another great idea for making our club super secret. I think we should come up with our very own secret code. Here are some ideas to create a code that would let us send secret messages that no one else could read.

Reverse Words

One simple way we could write in code is just to reverse each word, so that it’s written backwards, like this:

Meet me in the clubhouse

Teem em ni eht esuohbulc

Reverse the alphabet

Another way we could write our code is to reverse all the letters in the alphabet so that A=Z, B=Y, C=X, like this:

Calling all ‘Kinz Crew

Xzoormt zoo ‘Prma Xivd

Read every second letter

We could also create a code using every other letter in a message, so that when you get a note from the ‘Kinz Crew, you start reading the second letter of the sentence and then skip a letter each time to solve the code.

Can you keep a secret?

Tczarnb ygoeuf kneoeqpc am srexctroeatp?

Number the Alphabet

Or we could assign numbers to the letters, starting with A=1, so that B=2 and C=3, like this:

‘Kinz Crew is on the case

11 9 14 26   3 18 5 23   9 19   15 14   20 8 5   3 1 19 5

What do you think, guys? Do you have any more ideas for communicating with secret codes?

Sparky says: “I have a great idea to make our club super-secret– I will put our crew’s messages out to give all people with internet access the ability to see it!” Then: “Oh my goodness, how on earth did Purr-Cilla crack our EXTREMELY secret code, and find out all this stuff about our club?!” XD

i like the first one! i think it wil be easyest! just one question… why do we need it?

heard of there codes before. I like them. I use them, also.

The every second letter one is cool. One of my friends and I use the reverse alphabet one whenever her brother is around.

A code I like to use:
Split the words then combine them to the next split word,
    Webk inzwo rldi sawe some
    [Webkinz world is awesome]
    Then flip those “words” backwards.

My friends and I usually speak in Pig Latin or the Language spoken by dragons. It is most commonly spoken by European dragons and Lin-worms.

None of those is an original code, they’ve all been done before. The backwards alphabet code and the number code are EXTREMELY common, virtually EVERYONE knows them. I have actually made original codes, (ok, well, one code) and have seen others WAY more complicated. I have nearly memorized bookshelf symbol 7, an extrememely complicated code in which there are totally different symbols for capital letters and lower case letters, and even things like ! : . , ” ‘ ( and such have totally different symbols. It is a real code. If you have office word or even paint on your computer, try changing the font and look for bookshelf symbol seven. There are plenty of complicated things in the fonts section. No offense, but seriously, can’t you at least TRY and think of something original? It’s not that hard, mine only took me a few minutes to think up. You could have at least said try a code where 26 is A, I mean, I’m sure plenty of people have thought that up, but at least you’d have thought a LITTLE. I’m sorry, but I really think if you are telling us to make our own codes, you should make YOUR own codes, because I know those AREN’T your ideas. ~EllySilverStar~

Jeez EllySilverStar, you don’t have to pounce on them. Who cares if it isn’t the MOST original thing ever. Me and my BFF’s code is super orignal! I mean, we might have been inspired by braille ( we arn’t blind ) but no one else knows it, It is really funny, I write my diary in code and I caught a friend looking inside of it. I was so amused by her confused face when she saw what I had wrote. To everyone else, it is just dots but it is much more than that, we came up with a talking code too! -Straystar◘◘◘

me and my friend made up a language called “op language”
for example my name is Lauren and if my friend wanted to say my name she would say hi lopauropenop
the key is to add op to the constants and the vowels stay the same
for example l is lop, a is a, u is u, r is rop, e is e, and n is nop and thats how Lauren turns into lopauropenop
it may seem confusing at first but you will get the hang of it if you do it for awhile and get to know how to do it

Me and one of my friends did that once. Only we just used 1 word for a whole sentence, like BEE= What are you doing after school today? And all you had to do was say BEE. And no one knew what we were saying. But those are some great ideas for secret codes! I think me and my friends will have to do that.
