Sparky’s Bad Day

I knew it. I knew going back to school was going to be rotten but it was even worse than I imagined. I have a brand new teacher and she’s horrible! Her name is Ms. Stripes and I don’t know what her problem is but she is the strictest teacher I ever met! We all had to sit in alphabetical order which meant I wasn’t close to any of my friends.  Then, there was no easing us back into it. We sat down and took attendance and immediately after she gave us a math quiz! A quiz! On the very first day of school! What is THAT all about? She said that she wanted to see what level we were at. After lunch, we had to write out all of our spelling words ten times each. That’s not the way Miss Daisy does spelling. She used to get us to write funny sentences using as many of our spelling words as possible and then we would read them out loud to each other and try to make each other laugh. That’s how you teach spelling, Ms. Stripes!!! Finally, at the end of the day we had gym. I was so relieved. I mean, she couldn’t mess up gym, could she? Oh wait – yes, she could!!!  We had to do 10 laps around the gym and 20 pushups! How about a game or something? This is school, not Boot Camp! I don’t know what her damage is, but I am definitely going to talk to my Uncle Arte. He’s good friends with Ms. Cowoline so he can tell her to move me into Miss Daisy’s class. I don’t need this!

I think kids should be taught in a way that makes learning feel like fun and not work, but maybe Miss Stripes is preparing them for when they become older. The older you get the more not so fun responsibilities you have, but that’s life.

Oh, Sparky, you think you have it hard now. What grade are you in? 8? Well high school will be worse. She’s just trying to prepare you and teach the bad kids dicipline.

I hope you don’t expect your Uncle Arte to come to your rescue every time you face a challenge or times get tough, Sparky. And I hope your Uncle Arte has the wisdom to stay out of this. You aren’t always going to have your uncle around to fix everything for you. Sometimes you just have to deal with it.

I’m sorry you had a bad first day of school. I had a mean teacher in grade 4. If you spoke without raising your hand, she slammed her ruler on your desk. It was loud, and made everyone jump.

Oh, Sparky, you’ve been through SO much. I homeschool, so I haven’t had the issue of nasty teachers, but I hope things improve. Who hires these people anyways?!

Haha…you did not have my 5th grade teacher. He threw markers at our faces and sent you to the office if you got a question. He was the worst. But sometimes fun and games is not how you learn. In P.E we had to do 100 sit ups and 100 push ups, no stopping. If you did you basically just failed right there. This year I had a math test at the first day. It’s called Middle School. I am in 7th, and its really hard. Haha 10 laps? I had to run 6 full miles. No offense Sparky, but I think it’s time to grow up. Stealthy

Sparky, I’m so sorry that your firs day of school was so rough, but in my oppion, calling teachers horrible IS horrible. So Sparky, hope your second day of school is A-OK! Anyways, wish ME luck because I start school tomorrow and I’m nervous! But even so/still, I love school, so what can I say? ~CC
