Every year before camp starts, the new counselors come to me for first aid and CPR training. One of the most important things for the counselors to remember is to always carry their first aid kit with them wherever they go. First aid kits don’t have to be fancy store-bought cases.
An inexpensive nylon fanny pack or cosmetic case will work perfectly well. Waterproof containers are best, and resealable sandwich and freezer bags in various sizes are a cheap and simple way to keep supplies organize within your bag.
Here are the items that I think are essential for a first aid kit:
Adhesive tape – Sterile gauze pad
Medication for upset stomach, pain, allergies, cough and colds
Antihistamine cream
Liquid soap
Adhesive bandages (all sizes)
Small flashlight
Insect repellant
Antibiotic ointment
Safety pins
Scissors
Sunscreen
Thermometer
Tweezers
Hey. He forgot a few things
How does he think we are going to learn how to protect ourselves?
Hi guys, It’s not a random post! On the next page it tells about someone going to camp and getting hurt and they used some of the stuff in this first aid kit. So if you don’t have a first aid kit, this ones pretty helpful.

Same. We keep one in our car and a draw full of medical supplies.
Woops, I meant drawer not draw. My brain turns to mush in the summer. :p

You don’t like first aid kits?
You will love them once you need one.

Well……. my family doesn’t have a first day kit.
I mean first aid kits.
I LOVE first-aid kits they are like mini hospitals in a box *giggle* plus they keep you safe!
A lot of things. Well it all keeps you safe so why bother? :)
I don’t like that spray stuff you spray on a scrape, and then it burns. :-(
-Always :-)
I call it the booboo spray hahahaha
Yes, thank you Dr. Quack! I would recommend, for the camp counselors, to make sure any extra medications are in the kit before you take off. Make sure to remember inhalers or perscription medications. A small water bottle is a good idea too, just in case.

You have a good point! One thing that I always carry is my EpiPen–don’t know if it is the same name in Canada and other countries–but I’m allergic to bee stings and spider bites so it can give me extra time to get help if necessary! It is for use for extreme allergic reactions.
Thank you.
