Every year before camp starts, the new counselors come to me for first aid and CPR training. One of the most important things for the counselors to remember is to always carry their first aid kit with them wherever they go. First aid kits don’t have to be fancy store-bought cases.
An inexpensive nylon fanny pack or cosmetic case will work perfectly well. Waterproof containers are best, and resealable sandwich and freezer bags in various sizes are a cheap and simple way to keep supplies organize within your bag.
Here are the items that I think are essential for a first aid kit:
Adhesive tape – Sterile gauze pad
Medication for upset stomach, pain, allergies, cough and colds
Antihistamine cream
Liquid soap
Adhesive bandages (all sizes)
Small flashlight
Insect repellant
Antibiotic ointment
Safety pins
Scissors
Sunscreen
Thermometer
Tweezers
Putting answers in flashlight, liquid soap, insect repellant, sunscreen tweezers
I cannot find the first aid kit. Don’t know where to go to find it. Help me.
thanks for the tips
Thank you Dr.Quack….As EMT..I know CPR saves lives and I know First Aide can save lives.also remember…Don’t panic..in the event of a medical emergency…know the phone numbers for HELP(ambulance-fire-police)..Everyone should take a class in CPR & First Aide…you never know the life you save might be you own…
What about a wrap? for like when you sprain/ brake an arm/leg etc.? I can actually think of a lot of other things that you should put in a first aid kit.
