Nibbles Confides in a Friend

It’s me, Laurabeard. Yesterday I invited Nibbles over to make cookies with me. I noticed that she’s been pretty quiet around school lately and besides, with Dogbeard gone I could use the company around here. Nibbles and I haven’t hung around as much since the beginning of the year. She still spends a lot of time with Janice, who I am not so crazy about. But it’s not like we’re not still good friends.

Anyway, we were making cookies when I asked Nibbles if anything had been bothering her lately. Suddenly she got kind of teary and said that she’s going to have a terrible Christmas this year because Plumpy isn’t going to be around. Poor Nibbles – that’s what’s been bothering her lately!

I told Nibbles that I could understand what she was going through because I was in the same boat. And that’s because my brother is in a different boat! I’m not going to have Dogbeard around this Christmas either, and while I was kind of envious of his cool adventure, I was also going to miss him a lot at the holidays. He’s so much fun at the holidays, entertaining everyone with stories of his wild pirate adventures.

Nibbles said that she felt a lot better after getting it off her chest and that knowing I was going through the same thing made it easier to bear.

The only problem is, since she went home, now I can’t stop thinking about how much I’m going to miss my brother this Christmas!
