Roberta’s Mom’s Office

Roberta’s mom, Rosemary, has a very successful sewing business. From clothes to puppets, she pretty much sews it all. She also loves to paint. She works from home, so she really needed a space to call her own. She said she used to take over the dining room table. Not anymore! Hailey and I created the ultimate office for a busy business-rabbit.

Roberta’s Room: Before & After

RobertaRabbit1

Hey everyone! Roberta here with some SUPER exciting news – the Designer Elephants redecorated my room today! And it’s BEAUTIFUL. Elwin and Hailey both drew up designs to show me, and then told me I could pick one…but I think I need some help to choose. Here’s Hailey’s design:     Really simple, very chic and definitely not little-girl-ish at all! I love the couch so that when Cowabelle sleeps over, she doesn’t have to sleep on the floor!   Then Elwin showed me his design. Look at those colors! And the bay window – LOVE it! It’s funny how both Hailey and Elwin used  shades of purple, but in such different ways.   So help me out, friends. If you had to choose one of the designs, which would you choose?

Roberta and Molly Decide

It’s Molly! Roberta came up with this great idea for our moms’ Mother’s Day gifts! It’s something that I know my mother will really love and I can actually afford it! We are going to make coupon books that our mother’s can use for babysitting. I am going to offer my babysitting services for my little sister, Millie, and Roberta is going to babysit her little brother or sister after her mom has the baby. Isn’t that such a great idea? And even though it doesn’t cost me anything, dealing with Millie can be a pretty big sacrifice sometimes so I really am giving my mother something from the heart! Roberta is awesome! I’m so glad she’s my friend. She’s going to make a great big sister.

Roberta’s Kitchen Makeover

Elwin and I have designed a few kitchens in our time. We redecorated Chef Gazpacho’s house, redid Fluffington’s kitchen, and even redesigned our dad’s kitchen (he was actually our first client!). The Rabbit family’s kitchen was a lot of fun to redesign. We had a really big room to work with, and the only things they requested were: 1.       A breakfast nook 2.       An island 3.       LOTS of storage   Easy, right? Here’s what we ended up with:   Hailey and I love, love, LOVE the modern look of this room. The wallpaper and flooring work just perfectly with the high-end appliances and breakfast nook. This kitchen is almost professional enough for a chef like Gazpacho!

Roberta’s Boy Names

Ugh. So my list of girl names didn’t go over that well with my parents. I tried to be really creative, but apparently ‘creative’ wasn’t exactly what they were looking for. So now I’m working on some boys’ names for them and this time I think I really got it. I made them a list and they were actually more impressed this time around. Here’s what I had in mind: Randolf Richard Rudy Rex Ronnie And Reid   My parents said that these were all pretty good names, but when they got to the end my mother stopped me and said “Reid? That’s cute.” My dad wasn’t quite so sure at first. He said it was kind of unusual, but my mom said he should think about it. She said it ‘had something.’ You mean they might actually take my advice this time? Wow!

Roberta’s Dining Room: Before and After

Do you see that picture? That’s what Roberta’s family’s dining room looked like, before Hailey and I redesigned it. Now, of all the rooms in the house, I have to say this one was the least problematic. The floors were actually kind of cool. The issue I had was that, again, everything was so mismatched. In differently designed dining room, the table would’ve looked great. And the sideboard. And hey, even the drum! But together, in one room? Not so much. So Hailey and I drew up some new sketches, and this is what we ended up with:     OK, let me just say that I LOVE this room. Green is such a terrific color to use for dining rooms. It’s very relaxing, and the leafy pattern on the wall made the whole room feel so natural. That’s why we stuck with a stone dining room table, and added a few plants for ambiance. Roberta’s parents were thrilled with how this room turned out, and very happy that we remembered a high chair for the future baby!

Roberta’s Parents’ Bedroom: Before & After

Elwin here with our very first Rabbit family home makeover. We decided to start with Roberta’s parents’ room. Since Mrs. Rabbit is pregnant, we know she needs lots of rest and that she wants a peaceful, pretty room. Mr. Rabbit’s only request was for a comfy chair so he could read. With that in mind, we got busy and created a new design. First, here’s what the room USED to look like:   There’s a lot going on in this room. The furniture is very heavy, and quite mismatched. Also, neither of the Rabbits was very fond of the country western feel that the bathroom had.  Hailey and I couldn’t agree more!  Now, here’s what we came up with:       Ahh! Beautiful! Hailey and I decided to keep the floor and change the wall color. We went with a very light brown to keep the room tranquil. My favorite change was the bathroom – it feels just like a spa. Roberta’s mom said she might never leave her room again! I guess she likes it!

Roberta Moves

Cowabelle here – I just got home and boy am I tired! We had Roberta’s moving party today and it was a ton of fun. We basically helped Roberta move her stuff all morning (whew!) and then Salley and I left all sneaky-like. We snuck over to my house and got some chips, fruit punch and a carrot cake. We surprised Roberta and her parents – and they were so pleased that they ordered pizza! We spread out a sheet on the floor and ate, picnic-style! What a great way to end a busy day!

The Move is DONE!

Hey everyone! Roberta here with some pretty exciting news – I’m writing to you from MY NEW HOUSE! With a TON of help from some movers and friends, we moved all our stuff this morning and now we’re just starting to unpack. I have to say, I absolutely ADORE my new house. It’s bigger and has lots of room for all of our stuff. I didn’t realize it, but we were getting a little cramped in our old place. I’m not even sure how we would’ve fit a baby in there! And I’m actually CLOSER to Cowabelle’s house now – how awesome is that? The only thing I don’t love about my new house is the decorating style that the previous owners had. My dad said that they had very ‘eclectic taste’, whatever that means (I think it means that nothing matches). Anyway, here are a few pictures of our new house that my parents took before we moved in. Please pardon the decorating.             Thank goodness Hailey and Elwin are going to redecorate!

Roberta’s New House

Hey everyone! I am getting SO excited to move into my new house. Even though I actually really love my current bedroom (this is it BEFORE I started packing):       I’m REALLY going to love my new bedroom. Why? Because Hailey and Elwin will be redecorating it! We’ve met a couple of times already and talked about what I have in mind. Hailey says that she’s got a really great design in mind. Elwin is pretty sure I’ll go for his design instead…I can’t wait to make a decision! Just in case you were wondering, here’s what my new bedroom looks like right now (this is a picture my parents took when they were walking through our new house):   Not exactly gorgeous, right? But it will be! Here’s one last picture: my current room, after all the packing I’ve done:     It’s definitely time to move!

Roberta’s Party

Stoogles here with some exciting news –we’re planning a ‘welcome to your new house’ party for Roberta! It was Nibbles’ idea, and we all thought it was a pretty good one. The plan is that we’ll all help her move (on May 6). When the moving part is done, Salley, Alex and Molly will make an excuse to leave. They’ll go to Salley’s house and pick up a bunch of balloons, some food and drinks. They’ll bring everything back and surprise Roberta and her parents. I’m just glad Roberta isn’t moving very far away – in fact, she’s closer to Cowabelle than before!

Roberta’s Diary: Time to Move

Dear Diary,   Guess what? We’re moving REALLY soon! My parents bought another house and put ours for sale this afternoon! Turns out they’ve been looking for awhile (without my knowledge of course), but they hadn’t found anything they LOVED until a few days ago. They put an offer in on the house, and this afternoon it was final – it’s ours! I haven’t seen it in person, of course, but I did see pictures…and wow! It’s a lot bigger than the house we have now. For starters, I’ll have my own (very large) room, and so will my sibling (although my brother or sister’s room is smaller than mine…which is only fair). The kitchen is bigger and so is the family room. The backyard has a swing set, slide and tree house in it, so my little brother or sister will love that as they get older. My parents said that the basement is mostly finished, and there’s an extra room down there that they’d like me to have as my own craft studio. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! I can’t! And – get this – they even said that Hailey and Elwin could design my craft room AND … Read more

Roberta’s Babysitting Adventures Part 4

Hey, it’s Roberta and guess what? Babies aren’t actually as bad as I thought! I know things didn’t exactly go well with Molly’s cousin, but I was telling PJ Collie about how awful it was and she said that all babies are different and I shouldn’t judge them all by one bad experience. She said some babies are shy and don’t like being away from their mothers but that doesn’t mean they’re not perfectly nice kids. I don’t know – I will reserve judgment on that one. Anyway, PJ said that she often babysits for her neighbor and that they have the cutest little baby boy who is not too shy with new people. I thought she was going to ask me to go along with her but she actually asked if I wanted to take over and babysit one night. She said she would give me a good reference and that she would be right down the road if I needed her help. So I did it and guess what? He really was the cutest thing – like EVER. He giggled at pretty much everything I did. Feeding him was kind of gross but also hilarious. He loved to … Read more

Roberta’s Babysitting Adventure: Part 3

Holly started to cry as soon as the door closed. I guess she realized that Molly and Millie had officially left her with this strange Rabbit. I tried humming and walking again, but it didn’t work. I decided to see if maybe Holly was hungry. In the fridge, I found a bottle labeled “2:30 – heat for 30 seconds in the microwave.” Even though it wasn’t quite 2:30 (nowhere near, actually), I decided that maybe we should give it a try. I heated the bottle, made sure it wasn’t too warm, and then sat down with Holly on my lap. And she drank the whole thing! After that, she seemed kind of sleepy again. Since she wasn’t crying, I figured it would be smart NOT to move her. So I sat on the couch and lo and behold – she fell sound asleep! After about 20 minutes, she got SUPER heavy, but I still didn’t move. And after about 10 minutes more, I heard the sound I had been waiting for – the turning of a doorknob. “We’re home!” came Molly’s mom’s voice. You can only imagine how surprised she was  when she saw Holly and I alone in the … Read more

Roberta’s Babysitting Adventure: Part 1

Guess what I did today? I babysat!  And it went…well, let me tell you the story. Molly called me first thing this morning and said “guess who’s in town?” I guessed Dacey Bryn and SantaKinz, and then she stopped me and said, “No! My Aunt Maria and my cousin Holly!” And I said, “Great!” And she said, “Want to help me babysit Millie and Holly this afternoon?” And I said, “Sure!” I figured it would give me some practice with babies. You know, for when my sibling is born. I arrived at Molly’s house at around 1:30. Holly had just gone down for a nap, so I thought we were in for a pretty easy afternoon. Molly’s mom and aunt were going to go out shopping for two hours, so it wasn’t as if we were going to be babysitting for a long time. Molly’s mom said that they’d probably be back before we heard a peep from Holly. And that might’ve been the case. If it hadn’t been for…Millie. Molly and I had just locked the door behind her mom and aunt, when Millie came running down the hall yelling “LET’S GET READY … Read more
