Roberta’s Babysitting Adventure: Part 3

Holly started to cry as soon as the door closed. I guess she realized that Molly and Millie had officially left her with this strange Rabbit.

I tried humming and walking again, but it didn’t work. I decided to see if maybe Holly was hungry. In the fridge, I found a bottle labeled “2:30 – heat for 30 seconds in the microwave.”

Even though it wasn’t quite 2:30 (nowhere near, actually), I decided that maybe we should give it a try. I heated the bottle, made sure it wasn’t too warm, and then sat down with Holly on my lap. And she drank the whole thing!

After that, she seemed kind of sleepy again. Since she wasn’t crying, I figured it would be smart NOT to move her. So I sat on the couch and lo and behold – she fell sound asleep!

After about 20 minutes, she got SUPER heavy, but I still didn’t move.

And after about 10 minutes more, I heard the sound I had been waiting for – the turning of a doorknob.

“We’re home!” came Molly’s mom’s voice. You can only imagine how surprised she was  when she saw Holly and I alone in the living room.

I explained what had happened, and Molly’s mom looked a little pale. Fortunately, before she was able to panic, in walked Millie and Molly. Millie’s snout had a bandage around it, and Molly looked a exhausted, but there they were.
“Turns out she banged up her snout pretty badly,” Molly said. “Dr. Quack said to keep the bandage on for three days, then come back for a checkup.”
“He said my snout might have a bump on it for a long time!” Millie said dramatically. “And that I should eat a lot of ice cream to make it better.”
“He didn’t say the last part,” Molly rolled her eyes.
Molly’s mom hugged her daughters, and Holly’s mom took Holly off my lap. It was definitely time to go home.

Molly’s mom and aunt thanked me profusely. I was pretty proud of how I handled things. Even though we had an emergency, we got through it. And I didn’t even panic when I was alone with Holly.

I think I’m going to be a pretty good big sister after all.

Good show! A lot of people would have freaked out and made things worse. You did the right thing to stay calm and try and keep Holly calm. You’re a good person to have in an emergency! ~~O~~SapphireSea~*~*~
