Add Us to Your Whitelist!

As the creators of a game for children, we are dedicated to keeping our players safe online, so we understand the need for ad blockers that prevent annoying or potentially unsuitable advertising from popping up as you play.

Did you know that there is a way to allow Webkinz ads to show up that still blocks ads from other sites?

The advantage to allowing Webkinz ads to show up is that there are features and events in Webkinz World that are delivered through our ad system, including:

  • Find the ads
  • Visiting characters in the Park
  • Watch and Wins
  • And more!

Webkinz relies on advertising revenue to help us deliver the best possible product to our players. And because Webkinz complies with COPPA, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, the ads that we do show follow guidelines laid out by the government that restrict the types of marketing that can be displayed to children under 13. Want to know more about COPPA? You can read about it here.

To make sure that you’re getting the best Webkinz experience, you can ask your parents to add Webkinz to your ad blocker’s ‘whitelist’. A ‘whitelist’ allows ads from websites that YOU choose, while blocking ads from everywhere else.

Each ad blocker works a little differently. One of the most popular, Adblock Plus, makes it pretty simple to whitelist a site. Just go to webkinz.com, then right-click the large, red ABP stop sign icon in the top right corner. Scroll down to ‘Disable on webkinz.com’ and you’re done! Some other ad blockers will require you to go into their Preferences, select ‘Whitelist’ and paste webkinz.com into the list.

Of course, you need to get your parents’ permission before making any changes to the ad blocker on your computer. Be sure to talk to them about adding us to your whitelist so you never miss another event in Webkinz World!

I know Webkinz needs the advertising but ads for liquor are inappropriate on a children’s website. I have no problem with the ads for hair colour , credit cards, etc showing up on WKN or Parent Club. Since most of the ads don’t load and this causes the computer to slow down or freeze. Sometimes I have to log on to my account 3 or 4 times just to do the basic games like the Wheel of Wow.

if you use ghostery, you need only uncheck openx…that is the only ad needed to run webkinz related stuff.

I see others have noticed the same problem I have experienced. With the ads on Webkinz doesn’t run properly. You can’t play games, employment office, or Kinzville Acadamey classes. I only let the ads on long enough to do the special features and events, then turn them off again for everything else.

I pay for Deluxe membership for multiple accounts, I purchase pets to keep many accounts with full membership, and I spend at least a thousand dollars at the estore every year. I’d say I do my fair share of supporting Ganz. :) Sorry, but the AdBlock Plus is staying on. Ghostery is staying on. Third-party ads will continue to be disabled on Webkinz. Video ads make the site unusable. If all website owners would just LISTEN to users and only show static ads that don’t track a user’s movements across the web, maybe ad blockers would disappear and ad revenue would increase.

I understand that Webkinz relies on advertising to support the online game, and I did not have a problem with the ads until a few years ago when they added the videos. I have 3 computers, one of which is brand new, and another that is about a year old, and regardless of which computer I’m playing on, I always have lag and connection problems in Webkinz. When the videos are playing, it’s too slow and frustrating to even log in. So I have all the ads disabled, not because of content concerns, but because of lag/connection issues. Webkinz World never runs great, but it is MUCH better without the video ads. As a result, I never get any of the ad prizes, but that’s fine. I can usually find them in the clubhouse. For me, trading for them is easier and less maddening than turning the ad blocker off and lagging out each day.

The same thing happened to me. I never had to unblock ads until there began to be video ads. My Webkinz account would slow down or completely freeze when the video ads tried to load, which was constantly. I have no choice but to leave them turned off. Surprisingly, it wasn’t until this current promotion that the ad blocker being activated kept me from participating with the characters in the park. What is different this time??

Fantastic! I may already have Whitelist set on my computer already, but I’ll have to check. Is Whitelist available for MacBooks?

I use Ad Block and only unblock at certain times. Webkinz also has shown videos in the past that I find annoying as well as some other items flashing. I find that very distracting. Some children who have seizures also find it a problem. Pausing Ad Block at certain times does help and still avoids videos, which I thought would not be shown to full or deluxe members. Hope this will help someone else too.

I’ve logged into my accounts today & did not see a large red ABP stop sign in the top right corner. Any other way of accessing this?

Hi bananasbw! Adblocker Plus was just one example that we used and it is the ad blocker with the large red stop sign. You may be using a different ad blocker which might have a different way of whitelisting sites. You may have to open the ‘Preferences’ in the ad blocker and add webkinz.com to their Whitelist. There are lots of different ad blockers and it all depends on which one you are using.
