Wow the harsh comments are harsh. I think these are cute. I’m not into beanie boos and never heard of them, I remember beanie babies from when I was little, my granny was a big fan of those but I don’t have that to compare with. I personally want to see the Cat, Husky, the Moon Bear, the Frog, and the Silverback, all of which I think are cuter in the new Webkinz than this pup or the unicorn. I think these future pets have a lot of potential. And the fact that there’s codes for both games? EXCITING!!

Ok, looked up beanie boos and I can see now that they are similar so I can understand the disappointment more from those commenting about that. However, looking forward to seeing more plushies emerge that maybe look more like the game avatars.

As someone who has been playing since 2007, I really appreciate all the hard work that Ganz has put into Webkinz. I understand there is a new generation out there, but why do we need a new game and weird-looking pets to attract them? The original Webkinz, now Classic, is a fantastic game in and of itself. There are a lot of great features and more could be added instead of spending such a lot of money on this new game. I have gone on a few times and every time I am less impressed. Garden seeds that only give ten harvests? Really? Why not take the time and money to keep the original site updated and working properly. I read every comment thus far posted, and the majority of them are pretty negative towards the new game and plushies. Webkinz has been so much fun and I am really debating about leaving at the end of the year. Kinda sad.

Yeah. I don’t get why great companies always change all of a sudden to make way for the new generation…

Companies, just like everyone else, have to adapt to a changing world. The reality is that, for a company to survive, it has to appeal to the customers who are interested in their products and services. There is a LOT of research that goes into product designs, and I’m sure these new plushies are no exception. Apparently this plush design is in line with what people want to buy; it’s customers who decide what companies sell, really. While not everyone may enjoy the new look, there are probably more who do than don’t. The new Webkinz is very reminiscent of Amazing world, which was adorable and fun to play. It seems that, rather than start completely from scratch, Ganz has “reinvented” Webkinz by utilizing the foundation and personnel that were already there and building into the game aspects of Amazing World, and perhaps Mazin’ Hamsters, which players really enjoyed. In the world of business, there are two kinds of companies: the quick and the dead. I’m glad Ganz is among the quick.

I was so excited to order the first pets released that I didn’t really looked at them first. It wouldn’t have mattered anyway. I think they are both cute and I like that they gave us one real pet and one mystical. I see what you all mean now about the Beanie Boos resemblance to the new Webkinz pets. I was hoping they would make them really small, like 4 inches and proportionately correct eyes and body’s. Like little dolls. I don’t like having to put my plushies into bins but I don’t have a lot of room to display them. If these measure to 8 inches they will be bigger than Beanie Boo’s, right? Just because the first 2 pets look like that doesn’t mean they all will. Ganz has been very creative in the past. Just look at their first pet, the Cheeky Cat. That face was very unique. I can’t really play yet because I have a MacBook but I put it on my phone but its too small to see well but I look forward to when I can go on the new site but I really love the classic game. I’m very thankful to Ganz to keep Webkinz Classic going as an app. I’ll be asking for a tablet for Christmas. ENJOY!!!

I definitely miss the old days of Webkinz plushes. I’ve been playing for 11 years. I can’t say that these new releases thrill me. They don’t really look like Webkinz as others have mentioned. I’m sure Ganz is just trying to follow suit with what’s currently popular to draw in more younger players which I understand. However, the price is definitely inflated over the old prices of around $15 dollars for a regular Webkinz and $30 for a Signature. Maybe I’m nostalgic but I can’t bring myself to try playing the new game. These are a pass for me. Guess I’ll be sticking to eStore pets and finding original Webkinz plushes elsewhere as long as “Webkinz Classic” is still going…

Don´t fix what´s not broken. These are so generic like, the old plushies were actually cute.

Most of the original Webkinz plushy were my older sister’s and she had so many of them she had them in a huge net in the corner of her ceiling and the rest of them in a wicker carrying basket. When our twin niece and nephew come down to visit (they live 7 hours away), they are allowed to pick one each to take home with them. They just turned 10 so they don’t always want (at least my nephew doesn’t) unless it is a funky creature lol. She let me use her Webkinz account part time in about 2010 and then gave it to me completely in 2014. I always liked the Webkinz plushys and so did I and I always bought them until I couldn’t find them anymore

One of the simple pleasures of my daughters’ young lives were the Webkinz plushies. They were better than anything on the market, better than Beanies, better than Disney’s. The online versions were and are delightful. The designers never fail to amaze me with their creativity and imaginative use of colour, texture and shape. So, as tempting as the Webkinz Next *technology* is, we won’t be shifting away from the Webkinz Classic. The pets are derivative copy cats of existing products–with their bulging eyes and grotesquely big heads. I wish you had applied the amazing technology to significantly enhancing Webkinz Classic. I remember when Farmville began offering alternate versions of their games. People shifted into that, only to discover that they couldn’t get back into their original accounts. I really hope Ganz isn’t planning something like this, to gradually phase out the classic. It would be a terrible trick to play on consumers who have invested time and funds in the game. And while I wouldn’t wish this on Ganz, Coke learned the hard way when it tried to replace its original recipe for its headliner beverage. Bye bye *new* Coke, Welcome HOME, Coke Classic.

Awesome idea to have plush that have a code for Classic as well as a code for New Webkinz. However, must agree with several others regarding pricing and the look.

  9. tanja80 says:

why don’t you guys make them like the originals that we all love and want more of!!

  10. Fedorovgirl says:

I was expecting them to look more like the old Webkinz plush…and I know Ganz can produce nice non-Webkinz plushies…so I really wish they hadn’t gone the route of the big-head-big-eyes-small-body plush toys which aren’t to my taste at all. I’m hoping the next round of plush will look different, based on other peoples’ reactions. As for the price, well, you do get two codes, which is great…and if it does include shipping to Canada and the continental U.S, then it’s not too bad a deal. It’s not the money that’s keeping me from buying one of these, it’s the design. Sorry, Webkinz :/
