The Cats theme and the Dogs theme were the first two room themes ever created in Webkinz World. They were so basic, they didn’t even come with their own matching wallpaper or flooring, and they included less than a dozen items for each. There were both originally available in the WShop when Webkinz World launched in 2005, but it have since been retired and can now only be found at random times in the Curio Shop!
Put all of the pieces of this theme together in one room and you’ll have an awesome rainy-day hangout!

I love both of these creative themes and have many rooms to prove it! I have dogs in dog rooms, cats in cat rooms, mixed rooms, and dormitories. I think these two themes are great.
I didn`t start playing until 2008 but I was able to still have most of the items from back in the old days!!

Wow, thanks for the info! I had no idea that these two were the original room themes. I’ve collected the dog theme over the years, but as I am really not a cat person, I have generally passed on most of the items from that theme. Now I will need to make an effort just to get them for their iconic value. Are those the original cat and dog too? When I started my account 7 years ago, I opened it with that very dog as a free pet. One of my family members started his account with that cat. It is really great to see them featured here. Thanks for the report!
They’re not the original cat and dog, because Webkinz had been around a few years since they came out. But they are (if I’m not mistaken) the original Demo pets, which is how you were able to adopt one!
Oh, and I would LOVE to see the Domestic Cat and the Mutt make reappearances as adoptable pets! I had already been a full member for multiple years before the Demo came out that allowed you to adopt one of ‘em. I’d love to add one (or both) of them to my Kinz family now. :0
I have most of the Dog theme and about half of the Cat theme. I still haven’t set up a cat theme room, but my Butterscotch Retriever has a Dog theme room along with his tennis ball psi and the tennis toy chest from the Sports theme. I didn’t even know some of these items were from these themes, lol. I had no idea how they got in my dock, but now I know they must have been from the Curio Shop.
I wonder how you could use those cat tunnels in other rooms. Pipes maybe? Hmm.
