Complete your arcade tasks!
There’s lots of challenging arcade tasks in Season 3. So, before the season is over, here’s a list of helpful game-play tips.
Home Before Dark
Your Week 5 goal is to make it to Level 6 in Home Before Dark.
In this game, I like to get through the early levels quickly so I concentrate on building a path to as many doors as possible. Levels 1-3 give you enough time to figure out how the houses connect. For the most connections, work backwards, from the houses to the entrance point.
As you move to higher levels, start to focus on creating paths by clicking as few tiles as possible.
Use the yellow and blue color coding to find the tiles that need to be turned. How can you connect the yellow and blue paths in the most efficient way? Often there’s a single tile you can turn to make it happen!
On higher levels, if the pace feels too quick or if you’re running out of time, focus on the top couple of rows. You’ll notice, once the tiles shuffle down, there’s a moment where time is frozen. Use that frozen-in-time moment to scope out those top two rows. Chances are, you’ll be able to see a clear path that will only require you to change a few tiles. Click those tiles quickly!
Hoppy Little Rocket Ship
Another Week 5 arcade goal is to earn 2000+ points in Hoppy Little Rocket Ship five times.
My first tip is to look ahead. Concentrate on what’s coming and you’ll always be ready to hop on a star or score a bonus.
I also suggest that you only using your boosts in the later part of the game. The start of the game is great for collecting points so take your time. As you move higher the obstacles are trickier and the clouds are a little harder to land and that’s when your boosts will be the most helpful.
Goody Gumdrops
One of your Week 2 tasks is to score 9000+ points in Goody Gumdrops 5 times.
This task was the hardest for me because I’ve never been good at this game. But, after playing it repeatedly, I’ve figured out a couple helpful tips.
The most important thing is to score as many stars as possible. But it is just as important to avoid the obstacles. Obstacles in this game are super damaging. I have even found that, if you’re in a tight spot, it’s better to jump over the obstacle and miss the gumdrops than to jump into the obstacle trying to score.
The next thing you’ll want to watch out for is any landscape that repeats. The architecture of the landscape tends to repeat so, if you’re always messing up the same part, take a second to figure it out. You can get better at landing the platforms by practicing the architecture.
My last tip is to avoid jumping too much. Jumping takes energy. Try to roll through the landscape and only jump when necessary.
Those are my tips for the games I found most challenging. What are some of your tips?

i can’t get past levels before my animal gets stuck at a door another animal has already gone through. another tip on the gumdrop game if you use the keyboard rather than the mouse its easier,
Hi momdadabby! I’ve gotten stuck at level 5 a couple of times already. Sigh…. I agree with your suggestion of using a keyboard when playing Goody Gumdrops. Definitely much easier.
I like the games that are cumulative, that really helps. I actually shocked myself and made the Home Before Dark one! I’m going to be way behind on this season as we were gone for a week and had no luck connecting to NEXT on the laptop that I took with me to try to stay on track. Not that I really had much time for anything anyway! It was so nice hugging grandchildren after 5 years!
Thanks for the tips! Wish we had more time, ugh.
Thanks so much for the tips :)
Wait, jumping in Goody Gumdroos takes energy?! How did I not know this! That explains why my energy goes down so quickly.. lol Also I find HLR to be pretty easy, just save up your boosts and only use them when you’re about to lose/ can’t reach any clouds . And don’t go on the thunderclouds XD
There is so much space between things when you get high up! I must say, I have better luck with the Classic version of this one!
Thanks for all the tips! Does anyone have tips for Wacky Zingoz? I can only get around 5000-7000, nowhere near 10,000 :P Wacky only flies to around 100/150 for me.
I believe there is an article on this: https://webkinznewz.ganzworld.com/announcements/webkinz-next-101-how-to-play-wacky-zingoz/ and another one at https://webkinznewz.ganzworld.com/announcements/dorothy-lous-top-5-tips-for-the-arcade/. Also, aim for his middle – not his bottom or his head.
Almost every time I play home before dark, a player gets stuck and won’t enter the house it approached… this ends my game even before level 4..
Hi susiecue55! I have the same problem. I’ve managed to get to level 5 a couple of times and then have had my pet get stuck. So close yet so far to getting that challenge checked off the list!
Here’s an additional tip for Home Before Dark: On desktop computers (at least Windows; I haven’t tried Next on a Mac), the pets often get stuck at T-shape and plus-shape intersections. However, on mobile devices- at least iOS, I haven’t tested Android- the game works MUCH better, with the pets generally only getting stuck for a few seconds, if at all. So if you’re struggling with Home Before Dark on a computer, but have a mobile device, try playing Next on mobile. (Also, since the pets in Home Before Dark are the player’s pets, I’ve been theorizing that perhaps they use the same “pathfinding algorithm” as the pets use in the houses, Kinzville, the mines, etc. If this is the case, then Ganz, I recommend you either tweak the pathfinding code for pets in general, or make a new pathfinding algorithm for the pets in Home Before Dark. I know nothing about coding, though, so this could be easier said than done, LOL)
This is for Next’s seasons? Thanks but no thanks. Good luck to everyone willing to do it though.
These tips are for the current seasons activities. Not all of the challenges need to be completed to get enough seasons points to complete the season. So don’t worry, there are plenty of other challenges that don’t include playing the arcade games if that isn’t your jam.
Goody Gumdrops is the most difficult. It is the only one I cannot even get close to achieving. Thanks for the hints I will give it a try.
I don’t do well in this one either. My grandson loves it though.
