Groundhog Poetry

I was so excited to meet THE Groundhog today that I wrote this poem about him!

Ode to a Groundhog

By Roberta Rabbit

On the second of February every year,

A face pops out and turns to peer,

Around to see if he can spot,

Whether a shadow he has got.

The groundhog gives us hope for spring,

And whether sunshine soon shall bring,

Flowers, birds and warmer days,

Or more of winter’s cool, dull greys.

If he sees his shadow they say,

He’ll turn around and go away,

Down his hole. Then things are bleak,

For winter’s here for six more weeks.

But if he sees no shadow there,

Rejoice and for the spring prepare,

For brighter skies are on the way,

When we can go outside and play!

Here they were saying we would get lots of snow, but some days in MI feel like spring! So I wish it would snow a little, than hurry up and become spring!

This is my first ever post on Webkinz, although I read the E-Newz every day and win items for my triplet daughters, my two granddaughters, and my own accounts. I love Roberta Rabbit’s poem so much that I just had to comment! I can’t wait to show this poem to my girls! They are going to love it as much as I do. Thank you so much for writing it and sharing it.
