What are Pet Medallions?
Pet Medallions are a new form of currency in Webkinz World. Each Medallion is pet-specific. When you collect enough of a particular Pet Medallion, you can trade them in to adopt that virtual pet – for FREE! There are also special ‘AnyPet’ Medallions, which act like a wild card and can be used toward any pet.
How do you get Pet Medallions?
You can earn Pet Medallions a couple of ways. Look for the red gift box icon in the Arcade to see which games offer Medallions and when you play one of those games, you have a chance of winning a prize which might be a Medallion! You can win up to 10 prizes per day in the Arcade. And you can earn one ‘AnyPet’ Medallion by trading 10 Pet Medallions of any one pet. Look for more ways to earn Pet Medallions in the future!

Between June 6 and 12 you have even more chances to earn Medallions! You can earn one extra Pet Medallion a day when you see the floating Pet Medallion in Webkinz World and click on it!

Where can you find your Pet Medallions?
Pet Medallions don’t appear in your Dock but it’s easy to see how many you’ve collected. Just open your ‘My Pets’ window and you’ll find a new tab called ‘Medallions’. Medallion pets appear here, along with a meter showing how many Medallions you have collected toward each pet, as well as the total number of Medallions required for each. You can click on each pet for information about its PSI and PSF.

How do you adopt a pet using Medallions?
When you’ve earned enough Medallions to adopt a pet, the meter beneath that pet will change to an ‘Adopt’ button. Just click the button and you will be taken to the Adoption Center and complete the adoption process as you would for any Webkinz pet.

Are Pets adopted using Medallions the same as regular Webkinz Pets?
Just like any Webkinz pet, a Medallion pet comes with its own Pet-Specific Item and Pet-Specific Food, and it behaves like any other pet in Webkinz World. It makes Pet Requests and has Happiness, Hunger, and Energy meters that need to be filled to help increase your Family Score. The only difference is that pets purchased using Medallions do not extend your Full Membership.

Which Pets can you adopt using Pet Medallions?
There are currently twelve pets which can be adopted using Pet Medallions, including two brand new pets that can only be adopted using Medallions! Each pet has a unique Medallion value – the rarer the pet, the more Medallions you’ll need. The pets are:

- Clydesdale
- Gargowl
- Signature English Spot Bunny

- Stone Lion

I REALLY love this! I think it’s so great because I don’t have any of these pets and I want them all (especially the Diamond Dragonfly, Stone Lion, and the signatures!), but that being said, I think the way to earn them is a bit unreasonable. Either the amount of coins needed to adopt should be lowered, or the amount of points/levels you reach in the games should be (and you should get a medallion each time). I understand the necessity of the high amount of medallions honestly, but something could change to make it a little easier (especially since most of us can’t spend HOURS upon HOURS of our days playing the games).
After reading the comments, it seems like the number of points/levels is random, and you might not even get a box. And if there’s one thing that should be changed, it should be that. Like I won the Crafty Canaries game and received no box at all. What’s the point in spending all of my time on this new thing if I don’t even get rewarded for it?
I like to look at it as a “play games you love and you might get extra bonuses while you play”. :) :) Then again, I spent plenty of time in the arcade before this was announced.
Lol I’ve already spent about two hours playing these games and haven’t gotten a single medallion; every time I got a box all it had was 25 kinzcash. I like the medallion idea but there’s going to have to be an easier way to get them or it will be simply impossible to unlock any pets. If the boxes contained a medallion every time up until you hit the daily limit, this would be much more feasible.
Even when you get a “great” score playing an arcade game, there is only a chance of getting a prize drop. And in that prize drop, there are several different prizes, so there is only a chance of getting a medallion. Collecting medallions will require both skill and luck. This is the launch of both the arcade drop system and the Pet Medallion system, so you can expect some tweaking in the future as we monitor both features. There are also other ways to earn Pet Medallions both right now and coming in the future.
So IF you get a great score (which there is no definition as to what a “great” score is) you MIGHT win a prize box that MIGHT contain a Pet Medallion? Seriously? And considering that it takes a minimum of 100 Pet Medallions to earn a pet, how long would it take for a regular person to adopt a pet?
No offense Steve, but that is ridiculous “only a chance of getting a prize”. If ganz didn’t want us to get free pets, why even launch the medallion idea. Webkinz has been my passion for 10 years and I have never been this frustrated or angry. Very very disappointed!!!

And I do hope there will be more ways to get medallions as time goes on since I can already see that I would have to spend every waking hour of the next several years playing these games to earn a single pet XD
Steve, I feel that it would be more effective for Webkinz to have it be a bit easier for kids to win these medallions. Kids will get frustrated otherwise and will no longer want to play.
I hope this works for mobile. I love playing Atlantiles on the smaller screen on my phone and I’m really excited about this new way to earn pets. I really like all the games in the arcade that we can earn medallions playing!

ok, so, this is cool and all, but here is what i think. The pets being offered should be pets that we cannot just buy from the wshop, estore, or from stores. they should be pets that are made for this pet medallion activity only, like how the diamond dragonfly and rainbow googles are, or have some promo pets in here. Also, i just spend at least 40 minutes getting good scores on the games with the gift box symbol in the arcade, and when they say “when you play one of those games, you have a chance of winning a prize which might be a Medallion”, i got no prizes nor any medallions. I can understand why they made it difficult so that no everyone gets them so easily and have to work for them, but the amount of work this requires is insane. at least cut the amount of medallions in half, or make them easier to earn!

I don’t mind earning the medallions, but I haven’t seen enough opportunity to earn them yet. I am hopeful this will improve & am so excited for the special pets!!!
I love this concept. I’m just worried about how long it will take to collect enough for a free pet. I hope this program will be running long enough for us to be able to earn at least 1 free pet. Neat idea.
When this started there were many games with the giftbox beside it. Now its just the new game that has it. Am i losing my mind?
I got a medallion for around 3,700 points in Cash Cow– does anyone else know of the scores needed for other games?
That’s weird–Cash Cow isn’t marked as a game that gives out prizes.
Oh wait–never mind. It just isn’t on the game icon in the list. It is on the game screen when you pull it up to play it.
First, I really appreciate this new way to play and EARN prizes and pets. As with anything new, there is usually an issue, so I am going to leave what we’ve encountered today. Have a few accts, all deluxe. The gift boxes are easy to see. On 3 of the 4, did not earn any medallions, but did win furniture and 50cent Kinzcash. Played all the games at least once, high scores/highest level/or near highest level won nothing, cash, or medallion. Seemed very random, and was on Dogbeard game only. The account that gave 2 medallions was achieved with 28,000pts on Dogbeard & 7,000pts on Polar Plunge. Interestingly, this acct has the least number of adopted pets (6). Again, thanks for something new!
