What are Pet Medallions?
Pet Medallions are a new form of currency in Webkinz World. Each Medallion is pet-specific. When you collect enough of a particular Pet Medallion, you can trade them in to adopt that virtual pet – for FREE! There are also special ‘AnyPet’ Medallions, which act like a wild card and can be used toward any pet.
How do you get Pet Medallions?
You can earn Pet Medallions a couple of ways. Look for the red gift box icon in the Arcade to see which games offer Medallions and when you play one of those games, you have a chance of winning a prize which might be a Medallion! You can win up to 10 prizes per day in the Arcade. And you can earn one ‘AnyPet’ Medallion by trading 10 Pet Medallions of any one pet. Look for more ways to earn Pet Medallions in the future!

June 6 – 12, Look for the Floating Medallion!
Between June 6 and 12 you have even more chances to earn Medallions! You can earn one extra Pet Medallion a day when you see the floating Pet Medallion in Webkinz World and click on it!

Where can you find your Pet Medallions?
Pet Medallions don’t appear in your Dock but it’s easy to see how many you’ve collected. Just open your ‘My Pets’ window and you’ll find a new tab called ‘Medallions’. Medallion pets appear here, along with a meter showing how many Medallions you have collected toward each pet, as well as the total number of Medallions required for each. You can click on each pet for information about its PSI and PSF.

How do you adopt a pet using Medallions?
When you’ve earned enough Medallions to adopt a pet, the meter beneath that pet will change to an ‘Adopt’ button. Just click the button and you will be taken to the Adoption Center and complete the adoption process as you would for any Webkinz pet.

Are Pets adopted using Medallions the same as regular Webkinz Pets?
Just like any Webkinz pet, a Medallion pet comes with its own Pet-Specific Item and Pet-Specific Food, and it behaves like any other pet in Webkinz World. It makes Pet Requests and has Happiness, Hunger, and Energy meters that need to be filled to help increase your Family Score. The only difference is that pets purchased using Medallions do not extend your Full Membership.

Which Pets can you adopt using Pet Medallions?
There are currently twelve pets which can be adopted using Pet Medallions, including two brand new pets that can only be adopted using Medallions! Each pet has a unique Medallion value – the rarer the pet, the more Medallions you’ll need. The pets are:

Is there a limit to the number of game medallions you can win per day? Thus far, I have only been able to win two per day. After that, I just get random prizes.
If you read the post it says up to 10 per day. I see where there is a gift on Goody Gumdrops but not on any other games. Is a different game going to be selected each day or so?? If not, could you give us a list of games we can play to earn the medallions. Do deluxe games count??
Deluxe games do count. I saw it in the update. I currently have 0 medallions. I wish I had some.

I’ve got a suggestion! Maybe you could ask friends to help you gather medallions. You know, like when you’re trying to finish a collection or making one of those DIY sets from the w-shop. I think that would make getting one of those pets easier!

Non-deluxe and deluxe have the same chances. There is a one-medallion-a-day floaty clicky on right now, and the rest you can earn by playing games, several of which are open to all members.
I love this idea, but I paid $200 during a special promotion at the Estore for a Stone Lion and it’s kind of disappointing that anyone can earn this pet free.
Yeah, but you have to get 250 stone lion medallions, which will take a very long time at the rate medallions can be earned.
A suggestion! In addition to playing arcade games, maybe one can earn three pet medallions from daily challenges. Basically, every 24 hours you get 1-3 tasks to complete (like getting a certain amount of KC in a game, buying something from the W-shop etc) And when it’s completed you’ll earn pet medallions corresponding the the number of tasks you did (if the challenge required you to do 2 tasks you get 2 medallions).

I wondered yesterday if the games that are marked for giving out tokens are actually giving out tokens. I played Cash Cow 2 and didn’t receive any but after reading Alphaowlbear’s post, I’m gathering that yes they are. Which leads me to my next observation. While I laud the new token system, it’s fun and cool, it’s obviously supposed that all players are going to be fairly good at the games in question. This is a flawed supposition. When I was growing up, in a very, very rural area, there were no mall arcades so I never became what many were termed at the time, a Mall Arcade Rat. Lol the nearest mall to us was a 40 minute to an 1 1/2 drive, depending on which one you went to. The point is, I’m not very good at most of these games, period and never will be. I got to level 4 on Cash Cow 2 which for me, is pretty good. During challenges I struggle as I am with Zingoz Pop this month. By setting the bar that you have to get to level 10 (Really? Level 10 to get 1 token? o-O) these adorable pets are effectively moved out of reach for those of us who aren’t very good at these games. I’m of the thought that instead of locking this into getting 1 token when you possibly reach level 10 (!) a “graduating” system should have been looked into, a token at different levels. I’m saddened because I would love to earn the Diamond Dragonfly but sincerely cannot see much point in driving myself bananas and banging my head against the proverbial wall, trying to continually play a game I’m not ever going to be very good at in the first place. I’m very glad this is open to all players and wish them well though. Good luck all! :-)
Zingoz Pop doesn’t award tokens. Only the games with gift boxes next to them earn you tokens.
Zingoz Pop is one of the Deluxe challenge tasks for this month. I think Davids1lilpixie was using that task as an example–that some of the games are difficult to play and earn a “great score,” which reduces the odds of receiving any prize at all–never mind a pet medallion. It would be nice to have some clarification of what “scoring well” means.
Cash Cow gives extra prizes; Cash Cow 2 doesn’t award the prizes (or show that it does). You have to play the games with the red present on them.
how about adding the pink greyhound as one of the pets you can adopt that was a virtual pet too
Ridiculous. Too many required for what? – a virtual pet that doesn’t even extend full membership. No incentive at all really.
I saw a floating medallion but it was behind the ad and I could not click on it. I guess this is a reason to turn off the ads.
