What are Pet Medallions?
Pet Medallions are a new form of currency in Webkinz World. Each Medallion is pet-specific. When you collect enough of a particular Pet Medallion, you can trade them in to adopt that virtual pet – for FREE! There are also special ‘AnyPet’ Medallions, which act like a wild card and can be used toward any pet.
How do you get Pet Medallions?
You can earn Pet Medallions a couple of ways. Look for the red gift box icon in the Arcade to see which games offer Medallions and when you play one of those games, you have a chance of winning a prize which might be a Medallion! You can win up to 10 prizes per day in the Arcade. And you can earn one ‘AnyPet’ Medallion by trading 10 Pet Medallions of any one pet. Look for more ways to earn Pet Medallions in the future!

June 6 – 12, Look for the Floating Medallion!
Between June 6 and 12 you have even more chances to earn Medallions! You can earn one extra Pet Medallion a day when you see the floating Pet Medallion in Webkinz World and click on it!

Where can you find your Pet Medallions?
Pet Medallions don’t appear in your Dock but it’s easy to see how many you’ve collected. Just open your ‘My Pets’ window and you’ll find a new tab called ‘Medallions’. Medallion pets appear here, along with a meter showing how many Medallions you have collected toward each pet, as well as the total number of Medallions required for each. You can click on each pet for information about its PSI and PSF.

How do you adopt a pet using Medallions?
When you’ve earned enough Medallions to adopt a pet, the meter beneath that pet will change to an ‘Adopt’ button. Just click the button and you will be taken to the Adoption Center and complete the adoption process as you would for any Webkinz pet.

Are Pets adopted using Medallions the same as regular Webkinz Pets?
Just like any Webkinz pet, a Medallion pet comes with its own Pet-Specific Item and Pet-Specific Food, and it behaves like any other pet in Webkinz World. It makes Pet Requests and has Happiness, Hunger, and Energy meters that need to be filled to help increase your Family Score. The only difference is that pets purchased using Medallions do not extend your Full Membership.

Which Pets can you adopt using Pet Medallions?
There are currently twelve pets which can be adopted using Pet Medallions, including two brand new pets that can only be adopted using Medallions! Each pet has a unique Medallion value – the rarer the pet, the more Medallions you’ll need. The pets are:

Haven’t won a single medallion playing any of the games. One of the games was a high score and I won a chair, very disappointed.

I noticed while looking at the arcade games on the Mobile version of webkinz, that most of the games that offer prizes on the Web version are the same as the games currently available on the app. Does this mean we will be able to earn prizes through the Webkinz Mobile arcade?

It doesn’t specify what exactly it means by ‘play these games well’. Like how big of a high score do we need and how do we get it?
I have played Crafty Canneries several times and would win the game. This game has the small present on it, I have completed this game a great number of timesand have gotten no medallions not 1. Are you having a problem with this game working right?

I think Ganz needs to give out more pet medallions or else it will take YEARs to get a single pet.
Hopefully , as they stated in the article , they will release new ways to get the medallions that are more efficient than playing arcade games for hours.
I Have A hard time playing certain games that’s why I don’t play some events. What about getting a Medallion every time you sign in and having it where you find it on Webkinz News? And or a Community event so everyone can help each other get the pets ? At least this way everyone has a chance. :)

I see so many negative comments over the pet medallions! I see it as a total “freebie” from ganz. The prizes do seem to have slowed down today. I have completed 11 games of Crafty Canaries and received one pet medallion and one prize. Before today, the prizes were more evenly distributed about 50/50. I love the pet medallions and will keep trying!
I agree. It takes me about a month to find 1 place that sells Webkinz.
Go to the Ganz e-store. https://www.ganzestore.com/estore/ There you can buy virtual pets. It’s easy. You buy a pet and you get a code, enter the code and your pet appears. It’s fun and easy.
gbjockey, aside from the Ganz store, check out ebay! We love getting our Webkinz from ebay, just make sure the seller has a good reputation and can be trusted, and that it is marked as “New” unopened/unused tag.

also, the instructions on how to exchange medallions is very confusing.
Have played and completed all the levels on Crafty Canaries several times…have unfortunately, only received 1 pet medallion. Can you only play the game one time in order to receive a medallion? Kinda confused.
The same way here! I love the idea, but I have played games and no medallions and it ends June 12th! And no floating one’s either! How can anyone collect enough to even get a pet!
Only the floaty ends on June 12. Medallions are a new, permanent feature. You’ll be able to earn them in the Arcade after the 12th, and there’s a chance to get one when you log in each day.
“There’s a chance.” There’s a chance I’ll get a medallion when I log in, there’s a greater chance I’ll get a food item. There’s a chance I’ll earn a medallion on a game, there’s a greater chance I won’t. If I got a medallion every day I logged in and the medallions were evenly distributed, after a year I would have approximately 30 medallions per pet. Currently, I have twelve medallions spread between six pets, and none for the pet I’d prefer. The ten to one trade is not generous either. I think the backlash is coming from the fact that players feel insulted by the stingy nature of this concept. Back to the drawing board for this concept.
Totally agree, Tertulia…The way the concept is designed for this so-called adoption feature, it’s ridiculously frustrating to even earn a single Pet Medallion of any type, let alone ones that you’re actually hoping to find (in my case, the Diamond Dragonfly) and, given that they are both randomly and infrequently awarded, it’s all but impossible to ever even hope to earn enough medallions to adopt ANY pet at all…And the most expensive, brand new pets that most of us really hope to be able to adopt? Forget about that ever happening…I mean, at the current rate these are doled out, who wants to struggle for YEARS trying to collect the required amount for those?!! You’re absolutely right…this is insulting and disappointing to players who were excited for the “brand new way to adopt” that was so blatantly misrepresented by the Webkinz team. They need to make this right for all their loyal customers, starting with making it achievable!!!
stingy is an understatement !!!! i am annoyed with this concept would take years to get one pet let alone the one you actually want what is even more frustrating is ganz telling us that in fact it is a fair and generous concept
I agree with Tertulia. This is impossible. I have played the arcade games many times. The medallion is only awarded once per game, even on different days. At this rate, there is no way to get enough medallions, plus I have no medallions for the one I really wanted which means I will never be able to get it. Nice concept, poor execution.
I have been reading the comments, both positive and negative, and questions from other users. I like the idea of the earning medallions, I think it could be a fun way to receive pets that I might not otherwise buy. I sense alot of confusion from other’s comments and was wondering if Webkinz could create some standards for earning a medallion, as it seems very vague, i.e. if you complete all levels of a particular “medallion” game, does that earn you a medallion? Apparently not, as I have completed all levels on several of the “medallion” games and not received one. Is there a certain score one must obtain on a “medallion” game inorder to receive one? If there was some clarification and standards on how to obtain a medallion for the games played, then some of the misconception and frustration would be gone. When there is a trophy to be won or challenge, the standards and expectations on how to win the prize for a challenge or winning a trophy is very clear cut and defined. I think that this would make earning a medallion more fun as the expectations are known.
I agree with shananski. What does it mean to play a game “well”? That could be different for every single game. Personally, I’ve made a number of personal best scores and have yet to receive even a prize. A more specific definition would be appreciated.
