What are Pet Medallions?
Pet Medallions are a new form of currency in Webkinz World. Each Medallion is pet-specific. When you collect enough of a particular Pet Medallion, you can trade them in to adopt that virtual pet – for FREE! There are also special ‘AnyPet’ Medallions, which act like a wild card and can be used toward any pet.
How do you get Pet Medallions?
You can earn Pet Medallions a couple of ways. Look for the red gift box icon in the Arcade to see which games offer Medallions and when you play one of those games, you have a chance of winning a prize which might be a Medallion! You can win up to 10 prizes per day in the Arcade. And you can earn one ‘AnyPet’ Medallion by trading 10 Pet Medallions of any one pet. Look for more ways to earn Pet Medallions in the future!

Between June 6 and 12 you have even more chances to earn Medallions! You can earn one extra Pet Medallion a day when you see the floating Pet Medallion in Webkinz World and click on it!

Where can you find your Pet Medallions?
Pet Medallions don’t appear in your Dock but it’s easy to see how many you’ve collected. Just open your ‘My Pets’ window and you’ll find a new tab called ‘Medallions’. Medallion pets appear here, along with a meter showing how many Medallions you have collected toward each pet, as well as the total number of Medallions required for each. You can click on each pet for information about its PSI and PSF.

How do you adopt a pet using Medallions?
When you’ve earned enough Medallions to adopt a pet, the meter beneath that pet will change to an ‘Adopt’ button. Just click the button and you will be taken to the Adoption Center and complete the adoption process as you would for any Webkinz pet.

Are Pets adopted using Medallions the same as regular Webkinz Pets?
Just like any Webkinz pet, a Medallion pet comes with its own Pet-Specific Item and Pet-Specific Food, and it behaves like any other pet in Webkinz World. It makes Pet Requests and has Happiness, Hunger, and Energy meters that need to be filled to help increase your Family Score. The only difference is that pets purchased using Medallions do not extend your Full Membership.

Which Pets can you adopt using Pet Medallions?
There are currently twelve pets which can be adopted using Pet Medallions, including two brand new pets that can only be adopted using Medallions! Each pet has a unique Medallion value – the rarer the pet, the more Medallions you’ll need. The pets are:

- Cheeky Monkey
- Clydesdale
- Gargowl
- Signature English Spot Bunny
- Signature Normande Cow
- Stone Lion

As an adult who has been playing for 10 years, I find this insulting. Only one game has medallions and it will take longer than I have left to live to save up for a pet! Why can’t they also offer them for sale so that people who can’t sit all day and play games might have a chance to get these special pets. Also they should add more games to the list. I want that dragonfly so bad I could cry. I just might!
Try clearing your cache. There are several games that may potentially award Medallions. More ways to get Medallions will also be coming — this is just the introduction.
Hey Sally :) like all newly introduced play/items/characters, I think the approach should always have a disclaimer. It’s never easy for the first bit, especially when they are as complex as this one is, there are many things we can’t tell you, because if we wrote it all down it would take the fun out of self-discovery and personal achievement. Not only that it would be too long and drawn out to captivate an audience. Wait it out! By the look of it, this is going to be around for a while (and that’s GOOD NEWS FOR WEBKINZ PLAYERS) so, sit back and let the fast-fingered young’uns figure it out. They’ll let us know how to get those extra medallions, too.

What a great idea!
The kids are excited about this, but I only see one game with the prize icon, a new Raccoon game. It sounds to me like the pets are going to be nearly impossible to save up for as you need up to 200 for some pets. Our 10 year old is going to be disappointed I fear.

I got two medallions so far on the Goody Gumdrops game. Both times I had a decent score. I don’t remember the score for the first medallion, but the second one I had 17,986. The first one was for the Tiger Lily pup. And the second one was for the Blossom Fish. All I know, is its gonna take a loooonnnnnggg time to save up for a pet.
Um, yeah. I just played that new game and got a whopping 368. sigh
Oh good, I’m not alone LOL I was sure I’d be the only one who started at the bottom rung of the ladder. It was like that with Dogbeard’s Gold for me, but once I caught on I was able to successfully get the Bronze medallion and I’ve been having so much fun with that ‘Rootin’ Tootin’ Dogbeard. The Putt-Putt-Putt noise he makes as he’s getting those gems just cracks me up! I think Goody Gumdrops will be a game very similar to this. It just has more to watch out for. It does tell you, right at the beginning of the game to make sure you watch out for what’s over head. The only thing that gets me is my lil guy gets ticketed out really easily, so I have to figure out where the power ups are.
I’ve played 4 games, each around 20,000-33,000 points and have only gotten ONE gift!

Can you get a floaty colicky medallion on mobile? Or just the website?
Yes, that are there! I had one show up when I got my Weekly prize for filling the meter and one was floating kind of randomly (that’s what I thought, but maybe it was a Family score points thing)
Do we only play the game that has the box on it? There is only on game that is showing a box on it, and it’s a new game.
Leapin’ Llamas does not show a box until you click on the game and then it shows up in the window to the right.
If you look below the Game of the Day, you will also get a medallion for playing that, too. I also noticed if you beat a score you have a random chance of getting a medallion. Oh and in Mobile, Atlantiles above level 5 from what a friend told me, too.
In case this helps anyone, I got a medallion from leaping llama (for what seemed like a fairly short game) and one from Atlantiles (I got to level 6). I also got a different prize from Crafty Canaries (I got to level 9).
