Turning Ads On in Webkinz

Did you know? There are features and events in Webkinz World that are delivered through our ad system, including:

  • Find the ads
  • Visiting characters in the Park
  • Watch and Wins
  • And more!

When you have your ads turned off, you’re missing the chance to participate and win cool prizes. But there are some ways to ensure that you never miss a Webkinz event.

You can ask your parents to turn the ads on in the Parents area of Webkinz World here.

You can add Webkinz to your ad blocker whitelist. Learn more here.

If you are wondering which events require ads to be turned on, just look for this symbol on articles and ads!

Advertising revenue helps us deliver the best possible product to our players, and we follow guidelines laid out by the government that restrict the types of marketing that can be displayed to children under 13.

Off subject but when are the updates going to be finished, 2 hours already and can’t get on WW

omg it came on but have been kicked off loads of times and between times it is so messed up, instead of telling us to wait for updates they should say be ready for mess ups.

Would not mind the appropiate ads, if it didn’t slow the game down to molasses. Ganz, there has to be a way to keep the game up to speed, even with the ads on. I hope you have someone working on that. It would go a long way in making a lot of people more willing to play webkinz and keep the ads on. Please make sure the ads are appropriate. Thanks

I agree with everyone about getting rid of the video ads. Makes playing really hard when the screen temporarily freezes, ESPECIALLY the arcade games. The picture ads are better and less annoying. Pittiesrule

Ok, hold on a seccond. I have 30-40 pets, and a year long deluxe membership. I’ve payed litterally so much money into webkinz… why do deluxe members have to turn of ads to participate in this, sorry. I presonally think that obviously, there have to be adds, but the least you could do would be make so deluxe members could participate without turning of adds? I love webkinz events, but adds are laggy, frustrating, sometmes not even apropreate for webkinz, and just not what I want to see when I’ve already payed over 500 dollars over my 9 years being on Webkinz. Can you consider this ganz? I’d really apreaciate it, and hey, this would definitley motivate me to continue to buy deluxe membership.

I get ads, including video ads on WKN but in WW I only have ads that are related to WW or AW and none are video (other than the one with the shaking box that could induce a seizure in a prone individual) and I can meet the candidates, find the ads, get floaties and all of that stuff. Mom says we have the ad blocker on. Why can I get all of that and others can’t?

i dont mind ads on webkinz at all, but the only problem is when i have ads it lags and its hard to play webkinz, but when theres and ad even (Find the ADS) ill turn it on because the lag is wroth the prize :) (Also Chrome user not sure if thats the reasoning for lag) :)

GRANDMA: for years (over 10 already) I am asking Webkinz only one thing for ads: they have to be suitable for kids!

If you want to show me ads, you need to be responsible about the ads you show. No video — ever. No audio — ever. No motion in the ad — ever. I come to the site to play the game and not to be annoyed by obnoxious ads. Until the ads stop annoying people, people will continue to use an ad blocker.

You are exactly right! I pay for deluxe membership, I buy pets, I spend a ton at the estore every year. If Ganz can’t make the finances work without ads, then Ganz needs a new business model. I turned off my ads to do the election event in the park, while still keeping Ghostery on. All ads were blocked except this really obnoxious video ad that loaded in both ad spaces. The video ads slowed down the site so much that it took ten minutes to get to the park. When my ad blocker is enabled, it takes less than a minute to get to the park. I turned the ad blocker back on as soon as I was done with the event, because the site without the ad blocker is completely unusable. You aren’t listening to your customers, Ganz! And note, WE are the customers, not the advertisers whose product is ruining the experience for the real customers. No video ads, no sound ads, no hugely obnoxious ads that take up three quarters of the screen and have a tiny little invisible X in the corner to get rid of them. No Flash ads. No ads that change every 30 seconds and thus cause delays and disruptions in the user experience. Again, if you can’t make money on your current business model without destroying the user experience with ads, come up with a new business model. Perhaps you are losing money by giving away free bandwidth to free players. Maybe you need to go back to the old model: no free accounts. Whatever you need to do, do it. And please stop hounding me with “Add us to your whitelist!” messages. AdBlock Plus stays on. Ghostery stays on. I pay to play. I shouldn’t have to suffer through horrible ads that harvest my metadata, too.

Yeah, I agree with that also. Regular ads with no motion are fine, but the videos make Webkinz very laggy.

Ads, fine. Video ads that reload during gameplay, causing me to miss key timing maneuvers, not fine. Ads that are distracting and detract from user experience, not fine. I actually turned on ads for the first candidate meet and greet, but they lagged up my computer so much that I turned them off again. I won’t be participating in any more ad sponsored events. Even if that means I miss out on cool stuff. (Amusingly, my ad blocker tells me that there are eleven blocked ads on the ‘please let us show you ads’ page. And I find the sidebars highly distracting from the article’s content as they are.) Sorry, GANZ. Complying with the rules for ads to kids under 13 isn’t enough. Make them load quickly and not be distracting, or take them away and raise prices for stuffed plush. I’d be willing to pay an extra three or four dollars a pet for an inherently no-ad experience. Maybe even more. Thanks!

Agree completely. The thing I hate the most are the video movie trailers. I was looking forward to seeing Moana, but now I’m totally turned off of it. It’s so annoying to have that come up several times while trying to play.

I really don’t mind ads but can you please a: make sure the ads are well written so they do not cause high cpu usage or lag issues while playing webkinz and b: reduce the number of video ads – some of the video ads play one after the other and slow everything down alot. I had to pass on the rest of the election event and keep ads off because of the high cpu usage problem I have been having with the flash video ads’ coding.

    • sleepybadger says:

I have to agree. I generally keep ads off since it slows my computer down a lot but when I do turn ads on for an even the game becomes almost unplayable because of the lag. I’d love to keep ads on to support the site but when I do I can’t really play the game.
