Upcoming Changes to Google Chrome: How They Will Affect Webkinz

On September 4, Google will be releasing a new version of Chrome that will affect your experience with Webkinz.

Starting with that update, you will need to approve the use of Flash each time you load your browser. When you visit Webkinz for the first time, you will see this:

Please click Allow Flash Player. You will then see this:

Again, click Allow. You are now complete and ready to play Webkinz. As long as you do not close your browser (you keep one window/tab open) you will not have to reapprove Flash. So if you log out of Webkinz, you will be able to log back in without any issues. If you do fully close your browser, you will need to approve Flash again the next time you open it.

Currently, this change will only affect Chrome, though we do expect this change to soon be introduced to other browsers like Edge and Firefox.

As many of you have heard, Flash – the technology on which Webkinz runs – will be removed completely from browsers in 2020. As that time nears, using Flash in browsers will become more difficult. We are fully aware of the challenges that this will pose to fans of Webkinz.

We at GANZ are dedicated to ensuring that Webkinz can be enjoyed for years to come. We currently are working on multiple projects that will keep you playing and enjoying your pets, as well as take the game into the future for even more fun. While we cannot discuss the specifics of those projects at this time (they are in development and their details may change) we do hope to begin sharing details by the end of the year.

As always, thanks for being such amazing fans.

Will you still be updating the original webkinz. I still want to play but I think it would be better if you made some changes to it.

  2. ZeldaOfTheSky says:

Will you guys ever run the game on HTML? Because the desktop app needs flash too! Will it still work after flash stops working?

  3. Blessedbrianna says:

I only have a chromebook, will I still be able to play?

    • Sally Webkinz says:

The Desktop App is not currently compatible with Chromebook, but I believe the mobile app is

But don’t you realize the app hardly has anything to do? No curio shop, todays activities… ugh why did webkinz have to go so downhill in the last few years!

      • lannycramer says:

can you please make the Webkinz classic and Webkinz Next desktop app compatible with Chromebooks before we lose Flash? please???

        • Animals1315 says:

They can’t make it compatible with chromebooks it you didn’t know this Apple who makes chromebooks and also iPhone, iPads etc has never had the ability to run flash. Apple purposely made it that way. If you get any other brand computer/ laptop you’ll be to have the Webkinz desktop apps on it. I use the store apps as I have an iPhone and iPad. I also have a laptop that is not Apple for that reason though. Apple also doesn’t allow AutoCAD either. Probably some other bogus thing. You can take it up with Apple if you want but they really don’t care much.

          • Sally Webkinz says:

Apple does not make Chromebooks. Chromebooks run on the Android system, which currently only supports our mobile app.
