Due to an issue beyond our control, as of January 1, 2021, Webkinz Classic will no longer work on browsers. The Flash plug-in, which is required for our site to run will not be supported by browsers after December 31, 2020.
The good news is that Webkinz Classic has a downloadable Desktop App that functions exactly the same way as our original site, but it doesn’t require a browser in order to play!
To make sure your play is uninterrupted, it’s important to download the Desktop App as soon as possible.
Ask your parents for help downloading the Desktop App and installing it on your computer.
Downloading the app is simple. Just visit the Webkinz homepage, and click one of the download buttons. There is a version for Windows and a version for Mac.
When the download has completed click on the wxsetup.exe in Windows or wxsetup.dmg on Mac in your Downloads folder and follow the prompts.
Once it is installed, you’re all set! You can continue to enjoy the same game you know and love!
And remember – you must install the Webkinz Classic Desktop App before January 2021 in order to enjoy uninterrupted play.
I cannot download this on my brand new mac, is this just for pc?
I uninstalled the desktop app that I was using to use Webkinz. Then installed the app again. It looks the same. Is the logo the same? Thanks!
I downloaded the new Desktop game when it first came out. It worked great!! All my things appeared just like on the web version. Last month when I tried to get on A flag came up saying it was down for maintenance. It is still saying that. I uninstalled and downloaded a new version But it still says” down for maintenance”. So I can not play if it will not run. HELP!!
Sally, is there a trouble shooter list of helps for when something doesn’t work? I can not get on if my new download always says every day: down for maintenance. Is any one else having this problem? and how did you fix it? help!
Try uninstalling and reinstalling

What operating system are you running? I’ve encountered some people on Macs having issues, and updating their operating systems seems to help

When you’re reinstalling, are you downloading a fresh copy from webkinz.com or are you using the one you had already downlaoded? If you haven’t tried a fresh download, that might be the issue. Also, are you still able to log in through the browser without issue?

Yes I did download a fresh copy each time but the maintenance window was always there. SO I went thru cookies and history and deleted anything that said: http://www.webkinz.com everything else stayed and that worked. But bluestacks opened the google play store so I downloaded that version it was wrong. It was like a nothing of Webkinz. So I removed asnd reloaded the fresh copy I kept loading before and it came up without the flag. Everything accomplished!! The bluestacks was for Coin Master. Webkinz does not need to be on it. I hope this can help others! When that flag came up nothing worked. But I have played it off and on for 2 months since you added it then nothing.
I just bought a laptop for my daughter so that she could continue to play Webkinz. But the app is not working. Is it only for actual desktops? Or can the whole game be played on a laptop? The only thing she can get working is the mobile version. That would be awful if Webkinz Classic only works on a Desktop. Please let me know. Thank you!!

Oh, I wish for that, too! I don’t understand why we can’t do that! I have too many rooms! And Pets, for that matter! I wish we didn’t HAVE to add a pet each year just to be a Full Member! I would pay the price of a virtual pet just to stay a Full Member and not have to add another pet. :-)
I have a question if you’ve downloaded the Webkinz Classic Desktop App but have not used and/or tried it yet, how exactly would you be able to switch between accounts?
You still have to log in — just type in whatever account you’re planning on using
Make sure you click “Quit” between accounts and start the app again so you can get the prizes in all the accounts. This will make sense once you see the screen. Good luck.
I think some chrome books can run the mobile game. It’s worth a try if you haven’t tried that before. It’s in the Google play store. The play store will let you download it for free if it’s compatible with your computer.
If I unistall Adobe on my computer will the desktop app still work?

I can get the phone app on my chromebook, why isn’t it being updated with all of the webkinz desktop features?
The phone app is a portable version of the desktop app, and doesn’t have many features. One of the unfortunate cons of having a Chromebook is that most desktop games, including the full version of desktop Webkinz Classic, are not supported. Hopefully more OS updates are released for Chromebooks, allowing them to run more games.
